Its a match made in heaven really. 1 year for League Minimum means that absolutely nobody else in the NHL wanted him.

A #5-6 D man that has a history of fitting in as a #4 ( Tampa 2014-16) --- 40 playoff games 19:29 ice time.
Seems like fills the same role as Mike Stone and Engelland but at an end of the career bargain rate.

Stone and Engelland are physical defensive defencemen. Garrison is not. So no, not the same role.
You’d know that if you actually watched hockey but we all know you spend more time looking at stats and salaries than actually watching hockey.

Engelland and Garrison were in the same organization last year. Engelland was 3rd on the team in TOI/game. Garrison was a full time AHLer.
Any comparison is ridiculous.
