pro life vs pro choice....religion vs politics.....where does it end?

With parliamentary elections due next spring, the Italian Catholic Church has been very aggressive in expressing its opinion on political issues.

More religion in politics...or is it?

Well what doesn't anger the vatican? Might be an easier topic as I'm sure the list is fairly short.

In other news.

Some irrelevant group of people protest against something in a place in the northern hemisphere on the basis that that thing is not good.

The Vatican is opposed to all forms of birth control. As was mentioned, the morning after pill does not induce an abortion, it's merely a super-concentrated form of conventional birth control pills that prevent ovulation. Calling it the "abortion pill" is just using loaded terminology in order to plead to people's emotions.

[Edit]
Actually, I'm partially wrong. RU-486 does indeed abort a pregnancy. The other common morning after pill, marketed under the name Plan B, acts as I described above. In the US, the FDA recently denied the sale of Plan B over-the-counter even though their medical experts ruled it was perfectly safe to sell it that way. Pro-lifers lobbied heavily to prevent its sale OTC.

I thought the RU-486 pill was designed to cause a woman to have her period. Because the period dumps the egg in the process, one might call it an abortion; even if the egg is just barely a couple of cells.

However, I believe this pill is not nearly as effective in preventing pregnancies as RU-469.

Well since the Catholics are against birth control/abortion, of course they are against this. How is that news?

People who don't want to join that club don't have to.

In other breaking news, 'US gun control lobbyists are against new Smith & Wesson RU-DD-BNG' automatic pistol.
