Habs sign Byron to 4 year contract extension through 22/23 ($3.4 mil AAV)
Good for him. He made $3.5 mil total on his current contract.

Is it just me or does this seem like 3X too much money for at least 2 years too long?

I'm happy for the guy, he wanted to be in calgary just didn't have a spot for him. He's a great fit in Montreal and has been a positive contributor for them.

Good for him. Easy guy to root for, and he has worked hard to overcome his size and carve out a solid career.

43 and 35 points, and at least 20 goals each of the last two seasons. By all accounts a real leader on the team.
Market value, IMO.

20 or more goals two seasons in a row. Ain’t nothing wrong with this contract, Montreal needs every last goal it can squeeze out.

Love Byron but I think Czarnik has the possibility to make me miss him less.

Best 'comparison' contract on the Flames is probably Ryan. Fair.

Best thing for him was getting waived by Treliving. I doubt he has that contract if he was still a Flame, but you never know.

Was always happy to see him succeed in Montreal. Makes to wonder if he could have had the same success here. I'm not convinced he necessarily could have. I think it's great for him.

How does Paul Byron make less money than Kris Russell?
Oh. Right. Edmonton. Thats why.

Good for Paul Byron. I have always loved the way he plays the game. 53 goals since he's been a member of the Canadiens.
Keep gettin' 'em cheques, Paulie.

Great for Byron! Lots of heart, wish he was still a Flame, although no guarantee he would make the lineup here at that cap hit (way better than Lazar and Hathaway but at 3.4mil you have to bring it).
