So I'm going to Toronto tommorrow.

Are there any tips/suggestions as to where to go and things to see besides the regular touristy stuff?

Really depends on what you are looking for.

Shopping try walking Queen St. W. Partying - the entertainment district is where most of the clubs are, but people still get out to the distilery district or the Docks. Check out Toronto.com for ideas.

If the weather is nice, head down to Sunnyside Pavilion and sit on the patio. It's in the west end on the beach and if you go on a weekend there's plenty to see. Great place to people watch, kids breakdancing (they're actually pretty good!), girls playing beach volleyball etc. while enjoying a cold beer and great food if you're hungry.
One of my favourite places to hang out.
If you're an all-night partier, check out the Matador on College St. but not until after 2 a.m. It's an after-hours bar that's been in business since the 30s. They only serve juice and pop at the bar, but you can sneak in a mickey or go see the girl in the corner. Police know of this place but there's never any trouble there so they turn a blind eye to it. It's become part of the city's heritage.

Girl in the corner? I hope I don't ask the wrong one for 'help' ^_^

And did you say girls playing beach volleyball? oh my.

My hotel is on Carlton street so The Matador won't be too far away.

I was thinking about representing The Flames on this trip but I figure that if I get lost, Leafs fans will give me the wrong directions.

Where is Sunnyside pavilion? -->

edit: west end on the beach....right.

you could always see the Loblaws that used to be the Gardens

a few years ago a buddy of mine who's a HUGE Habs fan was walking by, and looking at all the memoriablia stuff. A reporter for LeafsTV came up to him and asked if she could interview him

Bryce being the great guy that he is, and a Communication major at the time said "sure"

Reporter: I can't help but notice you looking at all the Leafs pictures here, do you have any questions regarding the new display?

Bryce: Yeah... I was wondering why all the Stanley Cup photos were in black and white?

Reporter just burst out laughing!

One of the best hockey stoires I've ever heard

If you haven't been to Toronto before, you're going to love it. It's a brilliant city.

Rent a pair of rollerblades and go along the waterfront pathway(The Martin Goodman Trail) from one end of downtown to the other. On the east side, there's a beach/park called Ashbridges Bay where the largest beach volleyball league in North America should be playing(around 7pm).

Also, take a ferry across to Toronto Island and get some pictures of the skyline from there.

If you have a car, you can head north of the city to Canada's Wonderland, but it would most likely be packed. Keep heading north for cottage country and some beautiful lakes.

For shopping, start at the Eaton Centre and walk west on Queen Street. You'll also see MuchMusic's location on Queen St. W(if that interests you).

Nightlife? The club district is just south of the MuchMusic building.

I agree with the person who mentioned the Docks earlier. A great place to spend a hot afternoon.

Wear your Flames gear proudly! People will give you a thumbs-up, much like I experienced in May flying a Flames flag from my rental car in Toronto. Toronto is a hockey town, so they will definitely be pleased to see a Flames logo.

And, of course, you have to go to the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Some suggestions...

1. Eat. Toronto has some of the best restaurants in the country & you can find virtually every type of cuisine imaginable downtown. There are some great restaurants in the Entertainment District (King St. West).
Some personal favs: Fred's Not Here (meat & fish), Big Daddy's (cajun), and Joe Badali's (Italian). If those are a little out of your price range, there are a ton of excellent Asian & Indian restaurants where you can get a great meal for under $10. I highly recommend Spring Rolls, which has three locations downtown.

2. See. Obviously, there's the standard stuff - Hockey Hall of Fame is worth a visit, the Jays are at home ($9 tickets), and the annual Exhibition is running.

3. Walk. Downtown is a great place to walk around in the summer... you'll find/see some very unique stores/cafes/people. Some suggestions: Yonge between Bloor and Front... a little bit of everything. Bloor St... trendy shopping meets U of T. Queen St. West... everything from great cafes to Muchmusic. King St. West... Entertainment district and Canada's Walk of Fame. Waterfront (Queen's Quay)... beautiful walk in the summer.

If you're in to celebrity watching, keep your eyes open... there are lots around and there should be plenty of NHL players/officials in town for the World Cup games...

Fred's Not Here? I swear when I was in junior high my best friend said he was one day going to open a restaurant called Bob's Not Here. That is crazy. But I doubt this guy has a restaurant now.

As for Toronto, I would have to suggest the mini golfing at Ontario Place and then just wandering around. Wander down Queen St., Yonge St., Bay St. U of T is nice place to check out and there should be lots of young girls there around this time of the year.

hahaha, is that still on Much Music?

It's so sad to watch, the only good thing were the ladies that were hardly dressed.
Skanky yes, still some were nice looking.

I use "brilliant" far too much. All those British comedies, I guess.

But there are a lot of lights in those concrete buildings!

Go to Paupers pub on Bloor Street.

The day manager is a Flames and Stamps fan from Calgary.

He couldn't believe all the Leaf fans cheering for Calgary during the Playoffs and Cup.

If you are into art than check out the ROM. Lots of good stuff to see in there.

The Toronto Zoo is top notch. Lots of great spacious environments for the animals. Worth checking out if you like animals.

I doubt that I can do everything, but if you see a naked dude streaking past the camera on Electric Circus holding Flames car flags, you'll probably be sure that it's me after a few too many.

THank you for all of the great suggestions.
I leave in about 25 minutes...

Very good point. Make sure you go check out the skydome at night.. the roof lighting is pretty nifty.

I'll also second the Toronto Zoo. It blows away the Calgary Zoo. I had always heard that we had one of the more humane zoo's etc, but after going to the Calgary Zoo this spring after visiting the Toronto Zoo in November I couldn't help but feel bad for how couped up and crappy the enclosures were in Calgary.
