Default Canada Post Lost My Trackable Package?

So I ordered a printer on May 4. It was shopped the 8th due to arrive the 15th.

It hasn't come.

I called and the agent confirmed that there has been no scans since May 9th.

However the shipper needs to open a claim. Ok?

I emailed the seller via Amazon but no reply.

So ummmm.... what do I do?

Make a claim with Amazon. I had the same thing happen and they refunded my money.

I had a wallet I ordered from the bay go missing. Ended up in Hamilton > Routed to Mississauga and then never seen or heard of again.

CanadaPost was useless in helping track down that package or even trying to find it.

Canada Post is gonna Canada Post. Just brutal at times. They've had a number of not so favourable articles about them in the news recently with lost packages costing people jobs.

My personal favourite maneuver of theirs is to mark something as "delivered" before it even leaves their processing facility.

I ordered 4 tires from tire rack years back and UPS only delivered 3. They could not find the 4th tire and tire rack shipped me a 4th tire no-charge. About a month later UPS dropped off the tire they lost at my door so I ended up with 5 tires for the price of 4. Usually these get misplaced in the sorting facilities and turn up eventually.

One of those rare events where a Canada Post screw up actually works in your favour.

Yeah, USPS does this too (even more than Canadapost in my experience); in my shipping-related job I've got a canned response for the whole early marked as delivered thing.
But the worse situation is the opposite, where Canadapost or USPS doesn't scan on pickup, and then the tracking status just stays at 'label created, awaiting pickup', status. The customer assumes that we didn't actually ship it, until a couple weeks it just shows up to the customer, even though the tracking info still shows it hasn't even been picked up.
