Why not just do it at the Airport... Probably the closest location to Calgary.

Book at the airport and it will be a few months out probably. Check in once or twice a day and you can keep moving up the line as people cancel. I managed to move mine up by 5 months or so that way.
It’s also not a serious interview. You take your supporting documents, they’ll ask why you want it and then the CBSA agent will do the retinal scan and CBP will take fingerprints

Didn't see the airport as an option when I looked online.
Guess I will look again...

Driving 6 hours to Coutts and back for a 5-min interview would be silly, for sure. Calgary Airport, of course.

Yep..I booked thru the US site.
Earliest available was July 5. I will keep looking though to see if I can move it up a bit.
Thanks all.

Continue to check daily. I did that with mine and bumped a six month wait to three weeks. Mind you, this was 6 years ago.

The trick is to tell them how much pot you smoke in ounces, AND grams. Lets them know you are experienced with both systems.

July 5th isn't bad.
Unless you traveling between now and then moving up may not be a big deal.
I second Fuzz's suggestion. And when they ask why you want the card tell them it's because you don't like having to lie face to face to the customs agents with a kilo of black tar heroin hiding in your rectum. When you travel with NEXUS you only have to lie to a machine.

Speaking of Nexus, has anyone had to renew theirs yet? I believe mine expires in August and I haven't received anything from them about renewing yet.

You can do it at YYC, but it'll be a bit of a wait. I didn't want to wait so I just drove down to Coutts which had immediate availability. Obviously I got a speeding ticket in both directions because that drive is way too straight and boring to not speed and it is 100% monitored. The interview is super easy. Only unique question I had to deal with was why I made a recent 2 day trip to a South African country.

Mine just expired but I haven't bothered dealing with the renewal because I assumed it was hard.

What should you say when asked why you want it? I assume to be quicker at the airport doesn’t suffice?

Why not? That's literally the reason the program exists.
Faster border crossing (land/air/sea) is what NEXUS is for.

I did my kids last year, it was listed as a 4 month wait but checked daily and they ended up getting their appts in 2 weeks.
I called NEXUS and they told me straight out that cancelations happen almost daily.

July will work unless I can get in earlier.
I have a bunch of work travel to Mexico coming up later this year.
Typical travel will be through Houston each way.
Nexus will help on the return trip.

It doesn't sound like it matters, but they can usually fit you in on the same day if you are willing to hang around for a few hours. A guy I work with went to the airport 4 hours before his flight and was able to get his interview done.
Like others have said, cancellations are quite common.
Don't sweat the interview, by the way. They pretty much know if you are eligible before you show up. It's a 4 minute process.
