Default UPS Issues

So has anyone be had issues with them that ended in a good resolution? I was waiting for a package all day (didn’t work today). Was supposed to be out for delivery today so I kept the front door open all day. It’s around 6:15 pm and it still hasn’t arrived. I then get an email saying it had been delivered to my door at 6:09 pm. This never happened at all. I was sitting two feet from the front door at that time period.

I called UPS and they basically tell me there’s nothing they can do on the phone and I’ll get a call from the claims department within a week. I’m quite shocked it’s going to take then close to a week to call me to what essentially amounts to Dishonesty/theft with a driver.

Anyone ever experience anything like this and did you ever get resolution?

On a related note, I have a neighbour who ordered three cell phones (he was on a family plan), that were to be delivered by mail. The mail man can to the door in the evening to deliver the package. One of the boxes had the bottom cut out of it and was re-taped up. The cell phone was missing out of the package (he did get the other two cell phones). Anyway, he ended up on a fight between the cell phone company and the post office, as to who was responsible for the missing (stolen) cell phone. It took a couple of months to resolve, but in the end, he did end up getting a new phone to replace the one that was missing. The odd thing is that the package was delivered in the evening by the postal delivery person - which is unusual. Anyway, it was hard to prove who took it, but it didn't make any sense, because whoever took it would have a hard time (if not impossible time) to use that phone.

Check with your neighbour. My package was on the doorstep next door.

Here is what I do any time a company uses UPS to deliver:

I order from a different company.

If no other company has the thing I want then I live without it.

Works so much better than the old way I did things, which was to use UPS.

This is my policy also. The brain damage of dealing with UPS just isn't worth it.

Man, sorry to hear this. I have the exact opposite issue with my UPS driver. He's awesome!

I also have no issues with Purolator and Canada Post (no really!).

Don't get me started on DHL. It's so hit and miss with them.

And Intelcom! How the heck did these guys score the Amazon Prime delivery service? At least now they're taking photos of the package at the door. They're tracking system is horrible/nonexistent.

Go for a walk up and down the block. See if it was left on a different step.

As a guy who orders an unhealthy amount of stuff off the web and has had to deal with most delivery companies multiple times, my definitive ranking of carriers goes:

FedEx
Canada Post
.
.
Purolator
.
UPS
.
.
CanPar
.
ICS
.
Intelcom
.
Loomis
.
.
DHL

Keep in mind I always get everything delivered to my office.

I'd agree except I have had no issue with Intelcom, same quality as Canada Post. However, I hear a ton of people of issues with them.

Didn’t know the company used UPS. I can’t stand UPS. I actually had a driver leave a very valuable item on my doorstep once that required signature and forge my wife’s signature and truck on. Demanded a response from the company and it was never resolved to my satisfaction.

A year ago, Intelcom was terrible. They never delivered on time and lied about when they had delivered.

I think Amazon came down on them pretty hard and likely threatened to leave them.

In the past 6 months, Intelcom has been significantly better. I get an email when my package is close to being delivered (telling me I am delivery 15 out of 48 or something like that), and then I get an email with pictures of where he left the package. Plus it has been on time, every time.

I'm fine with Intelcom nowadays.

From my anecdotal experience:
I work for a company that uses UPS to ship items almost daily.
We use them because their service is reliable, and tracking accurate.
I will never again use Fedex who have failed us multiple times.
We are talking about orders going within Canada and to the States.

My experience is with shipping rather than receiving but all items are delivered on time.

As previously suggested check your with your neighbours, also check your community mailbox if you have one.

Typically "lost" packages turn up eventually.

As a shipper, are you counting UPS delivery notifications as actual deliveries? Because my experience with UPS is that my stuff comes a day or two later than when they claim to have dropped it off.
