Default Vegan protestors angry that restuarant carved meat in front of them

Really, what do you expect. You go to protest and disrupt a restaurant during rush hour, how do you think they going to respond.

Hopefully the Chef got a standing ovation from the patrons.

I'm all about the right to protest, but in this case I really liked the response.

https://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/we-wer...them-1.3862411

Quote:
A group of animal rights activists who protested outside of a Toronto restaurant known for serving game meat said they were shocked when they say the co-owner came out and carved up an animal leg in front of them.
Quote:
rmed with signs bearing phrases such as “Murderer” and “Animals are not ours to use,” the protesters stood outside of the restaurant’s front window and chanted slogans during the evening dinner rush.

In the middle of the protest, Ugar said the restaurant’s co-owner and chef, Michael Hunter, brought out a large deer leg and started carving it at a table directly in front of the window for about five or ten minutes.

“We were in shock,” she recalled. “It’s just an animal and we felt sad. For me, I felt sad for a few days after seeing that.”

Ugar said that Hunter then walked back to the kitchen with the meat he had just cut up. Approximately half an hour later, he returned holding a plate with a grilled piece of meat on it. Ugar said the chef sat down at the table in front of the window and ate what was presumably the deer meat.
Quote:
Next time I’m in Toronto I’m dining at Antler,” American comedian Patton Oswalt tweeted on Monday with a link to a story about the protest. “Thanks vegans. I'll put Antler on my restaurant visit list next time I'm in T.O.,” one Facebook user posted on the protest’s event page.

“Wow I love that Antler restaurant. The chef had a great demonstration the other night of how to properly butcher a hind quarter of a deer. It's so amazing to know that what I am eating is that fresh,” another user wrote. “I'm not sure what the protesters were doing outside but it was hilariously entertaining.”

The restaurant couldn't buy that kind of publicity.

That is absolutely fantastic.

What a childish but effective move.

I mean, you cant reason with them, if you try and remove them you become the 'Bad Guy' but if you casually mind your own business and eat meat in front of them its effectively passive resistance.

Brilliant.

Yeah I read ths story the other day and found my self giggling a bit that he did what he did.

Absolutely perfect response.

A bit of a "you mess with the bull you get the horn" deal.

At the end of the day he should be thanking the protestors as he has a wait list now for reservations.

ntler was already well-known in Toronto for its focus on foraged, seasonal and wild foods that are native to Canada, such as bison, boar, rabbit, duck and deer.

Going viral may have boosted business to the point where getting a table could prove tricky some days.

Trying to book a reservation through the restaurant's website proves that there are, indeed, a lot of dining slots with wait lists over the next few weeks.

I might have posted it earlier but these people remind me of the nutjobs in BC.

The restaurant had tried using the sandwich board to promote its vegan dishes: mushroom yakitori, sweet potato gyoza, vegan lumpia. But it didn’t work.

“The goal always is for a restaurant to go fully vegan,” Ms. Ugar said. “To reduce the animals they kill, for me, isn’t good enough.”

Are we sure he didn't hire a group of actors toset up this stunt? It'd have been brilliant.

Vegans are probably the most annoying activist group out there.

That's an awesome idea for a restaurant. Game meat is fantastic.

Now for me to protest a vegan restaurant, vegetables are not ours to use! If you can't photosynthesize your own nutrients what kind of human are you!?

My favorite line by those protesting outside the restaurant Antler: “Does anyone know what kind of animal this is”?

“Does anyone know if this is legal”, and “This animal didnt want to die” are pretty awesome too.

I used to think that if my daughter decided to be a clown or a mime when she grew up, it would be about the most difficult thing to accept, but now my greatest fear is that she becomes a pipeline protesting vegan activist. That's when you know you've failed as a parent.

Are there any restaurants in Alberta specializing in wild game like this place seems to be?

I remember having Deer and Moose a long time ago and I want to have it again.

I wouldn't characterize hiring people to do what others will do for free as brilliant.

Just because you can't hear their screams doesn't mean that carrots don't feel pain when they are ripped from the earth, slashed with knives and thrown bleeding into boiling water. Who will think of the carrots? they didn't want to die.

That soft and supple feel of the leather... that's how you slowly get them back onside.

Many restaurants in Banff/Canmore will have game meat on the menu.
