Default Chinook Learning redesigning itself and moving location.

I am curious at to the thoughts of CP regarding this. I have seen some pretty amazing young and old adults that went through this program. However, they can still get their high school courses through a variety of other means. I just think the money they are saving is minuscule compared to other problems. It provided a lot of service for the money it cost.

That article is wrong. Adult students (20+) pay full cost tuition at Chinook. It's about $500/course, iirc.

A full course is $545 for 20+, while 19 and under is free. Seems like the adults are paying their own way. Or just charge more if not...

I think it has more to do with the cbe recently renovating fowler and beaverbrook both of which are now way under capacity. Shutting down viscount Bennett allows them to not admit those renos were a mistake by moving the programs there. But they can't have adult students in a regular high school, so the adults get the boot.

CBE is also underfunded since the dippers declared "NO FEES FOR ANYONE". THis is the problem with most socialist policies. They seem good on paper but they don't always work out in practice.

I guess I don't see how cutting off the people paying full price saves any money...

Presumably they don't pay enough to cover the op-costs of the building.

16-20 are free but they can go elsewhere now, so with only a fraction of the mature students using the facility they would have to jack up their fees to cover the delta or terminate the service.
