Mangiapane has been sent back to Stockton / Hrivík Recalled.

Based on his absence from the #Flames roster on the media site, it appears that Andrew Mangiapane has been sent back to Stockton (AHL).

Atleast he'll get some playing time down in the AHL.

That is a good thing. Get him some more playing time and keep him hungry to make the starting roster next year.

This is a good thing. He looked good early but plateaued. Some more seasoning in the AHL will do him good.

Curious if there will be another call up or a surprise return to action when Kris Versteeg shows up skating on crutches.
Edit: Apparently Versteeg skating in full gear this morning (no crutches) so forget that

Lomberg is still here. If they are only going to play Mangiapane 7-8 minutes a night better off Ryan playing those minutes.

There really isn't any benefit to having him sit as a 13 forward or play 5 mins for development. He isn't Forward Hamilton and needs lots of playing time to help with his development. Plus you know Jankowski will be coming back in so he wasn't going to see much playing time in the foreseeable future.

Smart move. Kid is coming along nicely but clearly needed a bit more time in Stockton.

I think Mangiapane looked pretty good in his first few games, but his play and intensity dropped off after that. Seems natural for a kid being called up to run on emotions/adrenaline early on.
Hope he takes this whole experience as added motivation and comes in hungry again for his next call up.
I'm unclear on what exactly he extrapolates to eventually, ideally, a bottom 6 guy with some skill i suppose?

I thought Hrivik looked good in his debut, but then he sort fell off after that. Hopefully this time he will be able to sustain the energy he brought.

I like Lomberg more in a 4th line role.
Let Mangiapane develop more and bring him up when a spot clears higher up.

Mangiapane has a lot of skill. I don't think he's quite an NHL player yet, so it makes sense to send him down and have him tear it up in Stockton again. He put in the work to jump over Klimchuk, Poirier and Shinkaruk, which is nice to see.

I think this is a good move.
Mangi is younger and more raw and has a lot more upside.
Hrivik is likely mostly a finished product by now. I don't think Hrivik will ever become an NHL regular because his skating doesn't look to be very good. He seems somewhat slow footed. He'd make a better extra forward than Mangi though, and he has the size plus enough strength to win some board battles that Mangi doesn't have.

Great move! I felt like they could have done this sooner.
Mangiapane looks to me like he has all the skill needed for the NHL, but not enough physical strength or consistency. Both of those should come with time.

Havn't seen a Stockton game, but just looking at the team stats, and me guessing, it looks like whoever his he played with, their scoring improved, able to bring up the play of AHL linemates, he has some tools that could eventually make him a NHL player, maybe a second or third liner.
