Default The Raw Water fad

just found out about this fad. I'm a bit gobsmacked.

Are any of you supporters of the raw water movement? If so, I'd love to hear your side. I'm sure I could link to google articles all day.

http://montrealgazette.com/opinion/the-right-chemistry-so-called-raw-water-poses-real-risks
- this from the Director of McGill's Office for Science and Society.
"Promoting untreated water in the face of everything we know today about water-borne disease is preposterous"

https://www.vox.com/science-and-heal...silicon-valley
“Tap water? You’re drinking toilet water with birth control drugs in them,” Mukhande Singh, the founder of the Live Water startup, told the Times. “Chloramine, and on top of that they’re putting in fluoride. Call me a conspiracy theorist, but it’s a mind-control drug that has no benefit to our dental health.”

He said “real water” should expire after a few months. His does. “It stays most fresh within one lunar cycle of delivery,” he said. “If it sits around too long, it’ll turn green. People don’t even realize that because all their water’s dead, so they never see it turn green.”

That's some serious garbage right there.

I think that right there tells you all you need to know.

I'm pretty sure the venn diagram between people who drink raw water, are anti-vaxers, and will die in crippling pain as they bleed out from all orifices is a perfect circle.

This is my favorite whack job movement at the moment. Nothing like filling a bucket full of runoff/river water and thinking its safe. I used to gamble and drink spring runoff in the mountains while dirt biking, never got sick, but I always worried I would.

While similarly stupid (I actually really like this analogy), at least dumb kids doing the Tide Pod Challenge are doing it for a laugh.

These raw water idiots are completely earnest in their attempt to out-hippie everyone else in the commune.

I can see the argument you could make that fluoride might be poisonous, but if you actually think it's put in water to control minds then yes, you are a nutbar conspiracy theorist who probably thinks Dr. Strangelove is a documentary.

What the?

Clearly this is just another con movement. How do I know?

Live Water is a brand of raw water for which some folks happily fork out $36.99 for two and a half gallons. It is the brainchild of Christopher Sandborn, who rechristened himself as Mukhande Singh, perhaps because that name suits a longhaired, raw water guru.
I'm waiting for the drink your own pee movement, where you get a kit that re-animates dead probiotics in your urine into super strong zombie probiotics. But you have to buy this kit, that includes 10 doses for a $100.00 each.

That's right at some point someone is going to con people into drinking their own urine and possibly fecal matter and pay to do it.

I can't figure out who is a bigger idiot.

Those that drink raw water

or

Those of us that aren't bottling it and selling it to the market.

I have drank water straight from a stream many times, but it was always fast moving and the middle of winter.

I think drinking "raw water" is pure stupidity, I'm also jealous I didn't get in on the con.

I grew up in the mountains and learned that you only drink un-boiled river water when you absolutely have to. You haven't been sick until you have got a bad case of Beaver fever. Head in the bathtub while sitting on the toilet violently evacuating all orifices stuff.

It's quite baffling...the main reasoning behind these fads seems to be that this was how nature intended us to consume water. People do realize that up until about 1800, the average life expectancy was under 40 years old right?

Its such a great con, like the anti-vaxers and all of these other miracle diets, eating trends, smearing stuff on your skin or shooting it into your face.

Step 1 - Bring up some scienecy sounding crap in your product. Special bacteria, or immuno radiation, or vitamin C52.

Step 2 - Bring up generic health benefits that can't be quantified. More energy, heightened sexual performance, can see 2% better, your poop is chunkier.

Ok now the important stuff

Step 3 - The government/big pharma/new world order/bilderberg group/jews are trying to shut down your product and keep you the good people from buying it and using it instead of the government drugs because the government drugs . . .

step 4 - cause cancer so big pharma can make money curing you. Allows the government to track you/control your mind/reduce your sexual desires so you can't breed/passes mental ######ation onto your kids (So its your fault you took big pharma/government stuff and your kid is stupid instead of taking our stuff.

The close

Original offer one dose for $34.99 but if you act now and pay double the shipping you can have double the dose for $34.99.

The payoff

The Captain makes a mattress out of money and realizes the healthy benefits of lots of that good sex with a trophy bride.

Frank dude, you were lucky to hit 14, if you weren't mating by 10 and your mate wasn't popping out about 10 kids by 12, your family genetics weren't getting passed on.

This is actually one of my favorite topics & beef's with water today. A lot of people and MANY friends of mine who live in Calgary purchase and only drink bottled water at home. You go over to the house and all they offer you is bottled water.

A lot of people don't know that bottled water like Dasani & Aquafina essentially is tap water, owned and bottled by Coca-Cola and Pepsi-Co in plants where they have to pay commercial water rates. One of the reasons why those bottles are always priced higher than say Nestle Pure Life, which is "spring water", is because Coca-Cola and Pepsi-Co need to pay the municipality for the water and than they go through the reverse osmosis process.

Most of the bottled water that is labeled spring water comes from many of the sources that go to a municipality and then a company like Nestle will treat the water to their spec's and sell it. They are able to get drinking water for almost next to nothing and then sell it for huge markups.

A lot of countries and places can't get good quality drinking water but places like Calgary, Alberta, and Canada, in general, isn't one of them. I just think the process of buying bottled water to serve to guests is a waste and when I tell people that the water is treated to make it safe for human consumption, they are stunned. They literally think its some random stream where companies bottle water and than sell it but people are hesitant to put an empty bottle into the Elbow or Bow River and drink that!
