They should leave Mangiapane and Hrivik down there after all star break.

I have not followed Stockton this year. How are some of the "finese" players looking? Is Foo, Klimchuck ect ready to try for a 3rd line winger spot, bumping Hathaway down to 4th line where he belongs?

Mangiapane is our best finesse player in the AHL.

Personally I think he should probably get a look in the NHL on a line that doesn't include Matt Stajan, and Curtis Lazar. And I think it's time to see if Tkachuk can drive his own line - IMO he's good enough to do it.

Gaudreau - Monahan - Ferland
Mangiapane - Backlund - Frolik
Bennett - Jankowski - Tkachuk

Give that a shot - the Backlund winger spot has been a decent home for our young players over the last couple seasons. Might as well see if it works for Mangiapane too. If not Mangiapane then we should probably give Klimchuk a taste to see what he can do at the NHL level - I have a feeling he might be one of those guys who is better in the NHL than the AHL.

Didn't Mangiapane just get replaced for the AHL allstar game yesterday?
Hopefully he gets his spot back now that he's been reassigned.

Hrvik did not impress me at all. Didn't look like he could keep up with the increased pace of the NHL, terrible skater for what is requirred at the NHL level.

I would be in favour of this, but the resulting second line actually worries me a bit. It might be better if we flipped Mangiapane and Bennett: we know that Bennett can produce on the wing of the Backlund-Frolik at only slightly worse pace than tkachuk. We also know that Jankowski and Mangiapane have some pretty good existing chemistry. Add Tkachuk to drive the offense of the line and see what we get!

Bennett-Backlund-Frolik
Mangiapane-Jankowski-Tkachuk
Lazar-Stajan-Hathaway

Unfortunately it's not going to happen because the coach wants to bare troy brouwer's child

I'm good with that too.

Lomberg - Lazar - Hathaway would be an interesting 4th line too. Would need to be sheltered, and wouldn't provide much offense, but boy could they piss some people off and create energy.

I think we need a first line shuffle too, none of our lines are really clicking outside of the first but even they've been spotty the last 4 games. Maybe its just me but I miss the Ferland from the Vancouver series, he seems less engaged in the physical driving force he once was, even if you go back to the first 25 games this season. He was scoring when he was driving hard and putting the body on in the offensive zone.

This is the enigma of Ferland. You live with the disappearances from action because when his is on, man, is he ever on. Ferland will likely never be as consistent as we all want him to be, but that's what separates him as a solid and effective winger who can score tonnes of goals in bunches from being a top-ten player in the league.

Completely agree, its the big reason I don't see him as the #1RW moving forward and why I still feel we need one.

Yeah, Hrivik is a very disappointingly slow skater.

That looks like it's going to be a big thing holding him back from ever becoming a real NHLer.

My guess is Lomberg comes back up because we didn't really get a good look at him.

Do we even need to see more? He'll stay down.

As good as I thought Mangiapane looked during his stint here, it certainly wouldn’t hurt his development staying in the AHL for a while longer.

Yes please. With:

Lomberg - Lazar - Hathaway

on the 4th line. But that is not going to happen.

Ferland sits 6th in the league amongst LW goal scorers at 19G, and #32 in points

As a RW which he actually plays, his numbers rank him #10 in goals and #22 in points

As a winger over all, he sits 16th of (62 top line wingers) in goals and 52 of 62 in points.

Pretty hard to find someone to replace him with better numbers for nothing short of a kings ransom. In fact one could argue that there has never been a better time to trade him?!?

Edit: this is the Ferland thread right?

I like all 4 lines. My only change would be Janko with Monny. Monny is really hurting the top line and Janko could get some prime shooting chances with Johnny.

I would like to see Tkachuk take Ferlys spot on the top line. Im curious to see what him and Johnny can do together. I really like his game i think he earned a look.

Janko hasn't done anything since the Tampa game and his is playing against lesser competition than Mony
