Chicago puts Cody Franson on waivers. UPD: Clears.

UFA after this season and a $1 mil cap hit. Hard to imagine someone won't be interested or has he really fallen off?

It'll be interesting to see if anyone claims Franson. He's been effective on the power play and playing in an offensive role (64.63 offensive zone starting percentage). He leads the Blackhawks with 7.85 Corsi relative.

hmm that's weird. I thought i recall some comments about Franson being a pretty solid deal for the hawks on my twitter feed last week.
I'd be shocked if he didn't get picked up. Minimal salary, no contract next season, and the guy can apparently still provide value on the ice.

He really shouldn't get there. I doubt the Sabres will re-claim him given he just left there (though they should, their blue line is terrible). But Arizona? He's better than Kevin Connauton. Vancouver? He's better than Alex Biega. Ottawa? He's better than Harpur. I doubt he gets past the Sens.

Of the teams that have first rights to claim, I'd imagine only the Oilers are really looking to make a big jump in the standings this year. Haven't the rest thrown in the towel, and looking at this year as a rebuilding year?
