The Wednesday OOT has a pair of rivalry games. The premiere game is an Original Six inter-conference matchup and the secondary game is an intra-division matchup. The OOT is early as both games are in the eastern time zone.

It was the battle of the goalies, Anderson vs. Howard. Both of them made 33 saves, the difference was Athanasiou scored just 6 seconds into OT for the GWG (he also scored Detroit's 1st goal). There were only 4 penalties called, all in the 2nd period.
