The Thursday OOT originally had eleven games, the Panthers-Bruins game has been postponed due to the massive snowstorm hitting the Boston area. There are four Pacific Division teams in action along with three teams from the Central Division that are close to the Flames in the standings.

The Wings won the Cup in 1936 & 1937 then missed the playoffs in 1938.

The Habs won in 1968 & 1969, then missed in 1970 despite having more points than any team in the other Division. This was post-expansion when all the Original Six teams were in one Division and the expansion teams were in the other. St Louis won the West with 86 points and Montreal missed the playoffs in the East with 92.
