Default What about Brian Burke?

Isn't he ultimately responsible for this mess?

His stance on ties are admirable.

If Burke had his way, this team would be big and tough...which we know it isn't so I think it's hardly his doing.

I have never really been able to figure out what exactly Brian Burke was hired to do.

I personally think you can have too much administration and I think the Flames have reached that thresh hold.

Disagree. You cannot have to many smart hockey people around.

Look at the Leafs. They have even more than the Flames and it has been a remarkable turn around for them the last 2 years.

Its the model of the future for now, and i dont think we see it change.

He hired the GM who has built this team into what it is.

Ultimately Burke was brought in to hire a GM and hand over the reigns. Which he did. Now he seems to be, oddly enough, the Flames chief of PR and damage control. To answer (I assume) the next question, he hasn't said anything about the coach yet because the national media has yet to pick up on the scent.

Yes, let's look at the Leafs. Their fortunes changed after Brian Burke was dispatched.

The only play Burke can make is to fire the GM. He can’t fire the coach. He can be in Treliving’s ear recommending trades, firings, etc but the only changes he can make on his own are of the major variety and I don’t think he’s going to fire the GM.

Well what have the Flames got to show on the ice for all those "smart" people in administration?

A listless bunch of players with no direction.

Team is built around a 5'9" soft player who should have only been a complimentary piece.

Also, too many soft defencemen that play average at best.

There needs to be changes in how this team is fundamentally built or we can expect more of the same mediocrity.

We should build a big team, especially up front like Tampa.

Their top six forwards are

5'11
6'1
5'10
5'11
5'8
5'9

That is how you win in the new NHL. Need more small skilled forwards and need to ditch the big lumbering stone hand guys.
