NSH/COL/OTT 3 way trade involving Duchene and Turris falls through
Was in the trade rumor thread, but this appears to have been close and would have been a blockbuster:
Darren DregerVerified account @DarrenDreger
It's believed Ott/Col/Nash were in discussions on 3 way trade involving Matt Duchene going to Sens. Talks have ended. No deal.
Darren DregerVerified account @DarrenDreger
Sources say Senators GM has been pursuing Duchene since mid-September and discussions heated up in last couple of weeks.

Word on three-way: Duchene to OTT, Turris to NASH and not exactly sure on COL. Ekholm’s name came up, but no certainty he was in final deal

Gotta suck to be one of those players right now, the leaker should be taking a cab home with a cardboard box.

Have to wonder who leaked this and if this was leaked to get this deal back on track.
Could it have been Nashville trying to extend Turris and unable to thereby killing the deal?

Friedman now reporting Ekholm was not involved:
Elliotte Friedman ✔@FriedgeHNIC
Last note: Turris (NASH), Duchene (OTT), haul of picks and maybe prospect or two (COL). No Ekholm.

If Nashville didn't need ekholm to be a factor, the Flames could beat anything Nashville is offering...

Why? Duchene has actively asked for a trade, Turris has been rumoured to be on the block for the whole season and we don't know what--if any--players were involved for Nashville.

Duchane's sucked for maybe 2 seasons now? That's like a pro athlete taking time away from the sport just to rest and hoping to come back and come back better. I like Duchane and his skill, but realistically the more you think about it, I don't see how he re-emerges as a star player. You blame his agent, himself and Sakic in all this in hindsight. His agent for pretty much leaking the request. Himself for sulking and not playing his value up. Sakic for definitely sticking to his guns, but ultimately letting it continue for so long. I don't think there would be one GM out there who would let it drag this long. All around blame with everyone involved. Ultimately the guy won't be the same player as he was when he came into the league.

At least now we get a sense of what its going to take to move Duchene.

I do think that Duchene is better than Turris, so maybe that's what ultimately sunk this deal

Feel bad for Turris. Has resurrected his career and going from Ott to NSH would be an incredible success for him.

Turris a pending UFA so I don't see his value being nearly as much as Duchesne.

No Ekholm.

Doesn't sound much better than what Sakic could have done back at the draft trading Duchene for two firsts and two seconds.

This comes down to what the team thinks their odds are for turning Duchane around. I'd give it the following chances of becoming x player (loosely defined):
Superstar - 3%
1st liner - 20%
2nd liner - 60%
3rd liner - 10%
4th liner - 6.5%
Complete bust - 0.5%
If my odds are reflective of every organizations' assessment of him (which they wouldn't be, but for arguments' sake), who's would pay huge value back when there is little chance the guy will be a great player again?

Came for the multiple misspellings of Duchene, leaving satisfied already.
