Hamonic sustains minor injury in practice
@Fan960Steinberg
Gulutzan says Hamonic has a “little injury” that will be evaluated tomorrow. Won’t know anything more until then. #Flames
@Fan960Wills
Travis Hamonic left practice with an injury, #Flames will evaluate him today and will know more tomorrow.
Presumably if Hamonic can't play, Stone moves up to play with Brodie and Bartkowski slides back in. What say you, fellow armchair coaches?

That's too bad. However, this is the exact reason why Stone was re-signed.
Just too bad that Bartkowski will be back in. I still think a deal with Vegas will help both teams. Troy Brouwer for Jason Garrison.
Brouwer can provide leadership and 3rd line minutes for Vegas. Has a prior relationship with GM.
Garrison sucks but he can't be that much worse than Bartkowski.. and he is currently buried in the minors and UFA at the end of this year.

Probably Brouwer's fault.

Can we click and drag Bart into the recycle bin at least until he shows he's ready to handle NHL duty without being a liability?
This is why re-signing Stone was key. He's been better since the partner change. We know him and TJ can be decent together so this won't hurt us too much. Maybe this gives him a chance to use his heavy shot more.

This doesn't have to be complicated.

Would we go Brodie-Andersson Kulak-Stone to spread out the experience? Not sure which is better, just spitballin’.

Minor complication - who gets moved off the roster to make room for Andersson? Hamilton? What if Jagr isn't ready to play tomorrow, do we go with 11 F and 7 D? Or play Glass instead?

The assumption is that Hamonic goes on IR (and they have time to get Rasmus up here). Freddie has already cleared waivers so that's another option. If he's only going to miss one game then you probably just roll with Bart.

Hamonic hasn't been very impressive so far in my opinion. Not very noticeable (which I know is good for a D man).

I totally agree with your second sentence, Bartkowski is way more noticeable, and not always for good reasons:
- "Bartkowski pinches in deep on the O-zone"
- "Bartkowski banks it off the boards into the neutral zone"
- "[Opposing player] skates around Bartkowski"
About 1-2 weeks ago when Bart was playing over Kulak, I heard his name so often during the game that I thought the Gio/Hamilton pairing was benched. Ugh.
I wasn't a big fan of Kulak last season, but this year he's earned that 6th spot and it's like a double-bonus: 1) Kulak is good enough for a 6th D, and 2) Bartkowski is off the ice.

It being called a little injury at the moment, I can't imagine an IR assignment is happening.

@Kristen_Odland
Flames head coach Glen Gulutzan said that they're targeting Tuesday for Jagr's return.
@Kristen_Odland
Sounds like Hamonic is a no-go for tomorrow's game vs. Devils.

A groin / other type of strain injury shouldn't have been surprising for Jagr. Too bad that it seems to be lingering so long.

I don't think they'll have a Kulak-Bartkowski pairing, sounds too risky.

Playing Bartkowski is worse than nobody at all. I'd rather go with 5D.
Hopefully someone gets called up.

I'd imagine Andersson's up tomorrow if there's any questions about Hamonic.

I think that's hyperbole, he's not THAT bad. Especially to start this season I think he's looked mostly fine for what he is. I'm happy Kulak pushed him out of the regular rotation, but I don't mind his position in the depth chart.
That said it'd also be nice to get a glimpse of one of the prospects.
