Default McDavid....3- Flames stuck in cement.

Yup, game one went about as good as I had expected.

Bennett, Smith and Tkachuk Stood out in the positive.

Liked how Harmonic played first game.

How many taxpayers are excited to bend over and spread 'em to watch the Flames play like that in a new $700M arena? A few more games like that and Seattle will pay for an arena in Calgary to keep the stink away from their own city.

Well...flames looked liked they were playing scared. Already behind the 8 ball with that mentality.

The big take away is that if Smith plays 55 to 60 games like that more times than not the result will be better than last year.

Positive: good goaltending, diciplined.

Negatives: poor offence.

Line matching was a huge factor, the Oilers used the last change well. The Flames had some timing issues with their passes.

Overall, nothing to see here. It was the Oilers game to lose, and they played well. Still, I hate losing to the Cheetos team.

How much blind ass luck can one hockey team have? First they win Gretzky in a backgammon game and then a ####ing lottery ball falls in their favour and the end up with McDavid. You know, if that didn't happen they are the same crap team they have been for the last decade.

Don't agree. Hamonic had no jump and looked like he had cement in his skates for much of the night.

Outscored.

Outchanced.

Outcoached.

Its game 1, but man that team looked like garbage. How many years till we have a 1st and 2nd rounder? Our defence is very very overrated.

Disagree since Hamonic was our best defenceman all night. Brodie looked really bad. And Gio and Hamilton were invisible.

He improved a lot as the game progressed. I think he left a positive impression too.

1) Smith played great
2) Defense was pretty solid, only allowed McDavid to wheel past them a couple of times
3) Offense got NOTHING done.

Not even mad. They only won because of McDavid.

And what have the Flames done about it?
In the 80's the Flames put together a team to fight the Oilers. This teams looks like it was out together to help McDavid win another Art Ross.
