Sources say Emelin is in the process of being traded from the Vegas Golden Knights to the Nashville Predators.

Pre-cursor for a Ekholm based deal for Duchene?

If the Avs wouldn't accept Hamonic and a 1st for Duchene, I highly doubt they would do a deal with a divisional rival with Ekholm as the center piece.

If so, this sure won't help.

If this is all it takes to get players from Vegas, I wonder what the cost would be to get James Neal?

Duchene is going nowhere until either Sakic becomes somewhat realistic in value, he is fired, or Duchene hits UFA.

I'd guess there's a big price difference between forwards and defencemen.

In the expansion draft, they loaded up on d-men with the plan to flip a bunch of them for picks/prospects and that's what they're doing.

Really good shot suppressor who takes on tougher matchups, but I'd rather have a 5D that can produce offensively like Stone(/Colin Miller/Cody Franson). You can never have enough offense from the backend, especially if you don't have Sid, Geno, Guentzal, Kessel, Sheary up front.

And I don't think the Pred should be trading Ekholm or Subban for Duchene.

In frat party terms, Treliving's the "hold my beer" guy who gets the most attractive girl at the party to bed, while Sakic and Cheveldayoff are the ones huddling in a corner by themselves trying to avoid socialization.

Tough to see Vegas winning any games next year.

Feel bad for James Neal... hope he gets traded too

Poile has had a really good day. Bonino is pretty expensive, but fills a void ... and the Hartnell contract is just amazing. Getting Emelin for a mid-round pick and with salary retention (per McKenzie) is the icing on the cake.

Wow Vegas even retained:

Pierre LeBrun @PierreVLeBrun
Vegas retained just under $1.2 million of Emelin's salary in the trade with Nashville

Can't help but to think that there was more value in a more developed guy like Charles Hudon than getting a 3rd and retained salary for Emelin.

Alright Mcphee...what in the actual ####???!!! You had the potential for a good team that was a few key forward drafts away from being a playoff team. THIS is what you do with the advantages the league gave you? Go to hell.

I hope the team doesn't make a dime.

I do like Vegas' idea of relying on young guys like Miller, Scmidt and Theodore. These kids are gonna get a lot of ice time. We'll see what they are made of. Nice that (so far) they'll always have a #1 goalie behind them.

Yes. New team needs to grow. Much rather see the kids play than watch them ice a team of 30+ players.
