Rangers re-sign Brendan Smith (4 years, $4.35 mil AAV)

NYR and Brendan Smith are close to finalizing what is expected to be a four-year deal.
It will be an AAV of $4.35M.

That's a lot of money. Looked decent in their playoff run but I'm suspecting this deal will look pretty bad in a year or two.

Not a fan of this contract but the Rangers seem to have an endless supply of get out of jail free cards so bad contracts shouldnt really be much of a concern.

Smith is a better 2nd pairing option than Stone, but even still this is too much money for that term, imo.
