Really liked this

When you arrive, you’ll be known as a natural goal scorer. There’s nothing natural about it, actually. That’s something that will bother you for the rest of your life — whenever people ask you, “Why was scoring so easy for you, Mike?”

It was never easy.

Good old Mel Bridgeman, I remember when he was a Flame he wasn't nearly as intimidating.

Great quote.

Awesome article but I would expect nothing less from Mike Bossy...the ultimate gentleman on and off the ice.

I particularly liked the part where he said that your coach will not want to talk to you and when he does, he will tell you not to worry about defense...you were brought here to score goals.

That is what I would like to hear about Gaudreau. While I don't want to see any player always be defensively poor, I also hate the nit picking when he perhaps makes a back pass that gets intercepted. That is going to happen more often with talented offensive players and in the long run, you get a lot more with offense from them than defense.

Same thing with Iginla...all the nit picking about him as a player for the last 5 years or so...that he just cherry picks.

Look at the whole picture. Al Arbor did.

The game has changed A LOT since then, these days 1 goal against can be the game.

Certainly up there, along with Richard, Mario and Hull IMO. Maybe Ovechkin too.

I imagine being on the ice AGAINST bossy and trottier would have been a nightmarish experience.

I concur. Insane ability to find quiet areas with a lightening quick release and seeing eye shot.

I would love to see the look on Mel Bridgeman's face when he reads this.

That was the first thing I went looking for and couldn't find it either.

This, though, may be a good reason why Bossy described fighting as "insane" in 1979 and refused to do it. Wow. Bridgman vs Nystrom.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q60R1c8IidE

I'm too inept to embed. Pathetic.
