Why on earth are there people complaining about the crowd noise when in fact the Saddledome was very lively tonight? Because SN.
Who runs this crappy station? Do they not think we want to hear the crowd noise?
Why does NBC, an American station broadcast a much better product? They pump in crowd noise and make the people at home feel involved, not make them fall asleep.
I know there are SN employees who read CP, fix this issue. Take it up with whoever you can and fix your crappy product.

Don't always agree with you, calgaryblood, but yeah this is embarrassing and it needs to stop.
This is hockey, not a ballet show. It isn't some pristine environment with occasional smatterings of polite applause... alcoholic beverages are being consumed, and fans are raucous and rowdy, especially when their team is on a huge winning streak (like this one). Hockey is an exciting sport which really engages its fans, and Sportsnet seems content to make it a more toned-down equivalent of the Westminster Dog Show.
This needs to stop.

Is it a SN issue or a Dome issue? The acoustics in the Dome are terrible, so I'd assume that would impact the noise level picked up by any broadcaster.
I keep telling people we need to do a mass email message to the top dog at Sportsnet. This is absolutely getting out of control to be honest.
Scott Moore is the President of Sportsnet and NHL properties. His email address is scott.moore@rci.rogers.com.
I had another issue with the website of Sportsnet and HNIC and when I emailed him, he got the head of digital content to call me right away and the issue was resolved, to their benefit I must add.
Nothing wrong with us sending an email and letting him know how this situation affects us fans, the WORST case scenario is that we at least get an answer if its something they can fix or not.
Who's interested in sending one? The benefit of email is that it goes straight to the executives phone or their assistant. People who tweet and such don't have the same access in my opinion.
Thx

In sort of related news, TSN just lost the radio rights to SN in Vancouver. Despite the fact that Rogers doesn't even have a sports radio station in Vancouver.

Very likely boils down to the type of microphone they're using and the placement of the microphones. For example, a shotgun mic is a longer, skinny microphone that you point in the direction you want to pick up sound from. It's also good at avoiding picking up any surrounding noise. If they had a bunch of shotgun mics all pointed at the ice surface then it would be easier to hear Backlund fart as he crosses the blue line than it would be to hear a bunch of fans chanting.
Now, I don't know if their placement of mics or what types of mics they're using is something that has any influence by the Saddledome or not. But if their setup is entirely determined by the broadcast crew then it would be pretty easy to change some mics and/or placement in order to pick up more crowd noise.
When I watch I get the feeling this was a choice by Sportsnet to give you more of an on-ice feeling rather than an overall-ambiance-of-the-Dome feeling.
Because they're the client, and Sportsnet is failing to deliver the product to paying customers. It would just be nice to have them acknowledge the concern.

I am curious to see what the price difference was between TSN's 3 year deal and Sportsnet 5 year offer that was tabled.
I listen to TSN 1040 once in a while when Fan 960 is talking about topics I am not interested in and I must say, I like the product a lot.
TSN has had the rights to Canucks games for years and are slowly losing more rights both TV and radio despite having the better broadcast talent in my books.
