Desharnais has been a whipping boy for Habs fans. Oilers were likely to lose Davidson in the expansion draft

Well the Oilers didn't want to lose Davidson in the expansion draft. Instead they decided to weaken their D-core to add another small, nonphysical, purely offensive player who is a UFA at seasons end and will walk for nothing.
