Hi all,
Had some great luck tapping into the CP braintrust for a recent golf trip to Phoenix so i thought I'd see if anyone had any tips for a trip this June.
Looking to go late June for about 2 weeks. Basically looking to play 4 or 5 rounds in the SW-West of Ireland and have a couple of days between rounds so it's not golf golf golf all the time.
Any must play courses? We don't need to play the elite ones if there are any hidden jewels to play. Budget is mid-range but will open the vault if there is a bucket list course to conquer.
Must see places? We've been to Galway which will be done again and the Ring of Kerry looks to be on the menu too.
Anyone know of any sites that offer discounts for green fees? Stay and plays?
Haven't totally figured out how to get to and from the various courses/towns yet so was thinking to stay in one place for a day or 2 (Galway/cork/wherever)
Thanks in advance for any help.
GFG!

If you want to go North Portstewart which is hosting the Irish Open this year and Royal Portrush are as tough as you'll find with spectacular scenary (the former looking over to Donegal and the latter to the Mull of Kintyre in Scotland.).
You've also got spectacular scenery and cliff drives there with the Giants Causeway, Bushmills distillery, Glens of Antrim etc ....
Personally I prefer the Dingle Peninsula over the ring of Kerry which is a worn down tourist trap. But each to their own. Get off the beaten path.
Also, if you like hockey, or sport in general make an effort and get to one of the intercounty hurling games or/and Gaelic football games. In fact I would make that one of your things to do. Even talk to the locals and you'll find a good local game going on. Much higher quality of hurling in Cork than Kerry.

Follow the Wild Atlantic Way from Enniscrone to Carne for a couple rounds before settling in Galway for a bit. I'd look into at least one of the big names in the Clare/Kerry route: Lahinch, Tralee, Ballybunnion, or Trump International Golf Links and Hotel Doonbeg just to scratch at least one off the list (but they'll all run you about 200 euros) and pretty much take your pick of the lesser played routes since they'll have the same vistas as the big names. If you're not chasing scorecards it can be hard to justify the price of them if you're just looking for some casual rounds. Then end off in Cork and you've hit a pretty good stretch of Ireland.
