Default Vehicle insurance question

Hey CP, I was hoping that someone out there can help me out. My mother who's health has been on the decline and can no longer drive is looking to sell her truck. That being said she had side swiped a fence and a light post in a parking lot and damaged the truck, I'm now acting as enduring power of attourney and we want to get the truck repaired before sale.

Am I able to just call and make an insurance claim on her behalf or do I need any type of police report done?

Power of attorney docs and a police report if it is a few thousand in damages.

Bingo. You'll have to prove to her insurer you have the power to speak/sign on her behalf.

So in regards to a police report, since my moms mental capacities have deteriorated and she doesn't always times/dates will that still be enough to merit a police report ?

I think the main point is what you hit and where... and that they have records of it being in the past.

Example: Someone in the same color/make/model causes similar damage to their vehicle by sideswiping my fence today. When I go to report it and the police spot your car, they know it's not your truck.
