Bettman says NHL not looking at jersey advertising, despite NBA
In short, the league probably didn't get offers high enough to put ads on the jerseys.
Thoughts?

They're also not looking at expansion.

Good, the NHL likely isn't big enough for significant money like soccer jerseys or even the NBA. I wouldn't cry if we got advertising if it was truly helping the league in a meaningful way, but I'd hate to see them on jerseys and then find out each millionaire owner is pocketing $1mil or less for the rest of us to look at ugly patches.

"Cashgrab" makes no sense when talking about a business, that's literally the point.

Defacing the jerseys with ads is inevitable unless the fans repeatedly make it clear that they don't want them and won't buy them.

I agree. If the money is significant I'm okay with it because the more money the league and NHLPA can make the better things are for the business but if it's going to be stuff like Canadian Tire logos for pennies on the dollar then it's not worth defacing the jerseys.

All Star celebrity players had Chinese packaging company ORG PACKAGING patches on their jerseys.
Was it on the actual Sunday game ones?

Makes plenty of sense. In fact I actually can't think of an example of one that doesn't involve a business.
What do you think a cash grab is?

I will gladly take ads on jerseys if it cuts 30 minutes of commercials out and makes the games faster to watch.

I'm suggesting a trade essentially, lose say $2 million in commercial ads, make it up by selling ad space on jerseys for $2 million. Net result is the same amount of money, with a much better product. Ratings are declining everywhere in every sport (including the once untouchable NFL), and the length of games is undoubtedly a factor.

There is no way the Networks would trade commercial revenue for jersey ads.
I fully see this summer or next they negotiate in another commercial break per period.

And when the ratings keep dropping and they have to sell ad time for even less money....maybe then they'll realize fans are turning away because they have literally dozens of other entertainment options, and that watching three hours of sport for 60 minutes of action is a poor use of time, relatively speaking.
