Do you think the late start for the 2nd game for double headers hurts ratings in the mountain time zone? Or do the broadcasters think they are getting more viewers from out west contributing to the high numbers out east? I guess I don't understand why in this day and age with TSN and Sportsnet both having multiple channels and most homes having PVRs, why there needs to be 8pm games locally.
I hear that ratings are down in the NFL when it comes to younger viewers, I'm sure it's the same in the NHL. I read articles 20 years ago talking about how sports leagues had the games on too late for kids to watch and were going to lose the younger generation of viewers and ticket buyers.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, it seems pretty evident that in this on demand world with every game on TV. Why are the broadcasters stuck in the stone age assumimg there is a big national audience for sports? Fans want to watch their teams play. If you put games on at a later time to have a nationally broadcast double header. I think you are only eliminating viewers and interest in the later game.

Well, probably just under a million people would have watched the Canucks Flames across the country Saturday. Just those two markets alone would have been way less than half of that.
