Default Symons Valley Ranch Fire

Looks like there's a massive fire at Symons Valley Ranch. By the news reports, it's pretty much taken out the farmers market.

Too bad because the farmers market is nice to have around.

I left home right before the fire started so I didn't see it, but sounds like it's very smoky near home (Nolan hill).

I live right by that pond, I'm assuming my house will be quite smelly when I get home.

Went to the market frequently, this is very unfortunate.

I saw a tweet that said Firefighters have ordered the evacuation of 40 residences near the ranch. edit: sorry actually 40 people

Fire's apparent cause is a gas leak according to the fire department

Sage Bluff Green. It's directly south of the market across the field, the smoke would be blowing directly at it so I imagine the air would be quite bad.

Just awful.

I am glad everyone no lives were lost. Very fun area for those of us that live/lived in the area.

I hope they rebuild quickly. That was a very good spot for post cycling coffee and breakfast.

A friend of mine use to sell at the market. This really sucks for a lot of small/micro business owners that rely on the market for their livelihood.

Any clue how it started? I was told the owner was trying to sell the place for the last 2 years.

Do you have anyone that could confirm this alibi?

I was so looking forward to being a customer there (moving to Evanston in September). Hope they find a good short-term solution for the vendors and then rebuild better than ever!

Never went to the flea market part myself, but the attached restaurant was fantastic, and had amazing lobster poutine.

Bad economy, owner wants to sell, fire starts middle of night no witness.

Call me shocked.

The reporter on Global News last night mentioned that apparently the market was close to signing some sort of short term deal for a temporary location to reopen operations. He said it was somewhere nearby the current market.
