Post TSN: Every team's biggest need heading up to the Trade Deadline

http://www.tsn.ca/counting-down-to-t...needs-1.652984

And apparently, the Flames' biggest need is... our position of greatest depth? A second-line centre?

Curious.

From the wording maybe they meant second pairing defenseman.

There is a far more curious part of the Flames write-up, as mentioned in the other thread (gives you an idea how informed the article is).

Center is our greatest strength? Could have fooled me. We have Backlund and then Bennett who is bad defensively and then Monahan who is average defensively. Stajan is pretty good for a fourth line Center but I 100% agree we need another Center. Call it second or call it a third line Center but we need another defensively aware Center this season.

Our young guys might become good centers down the road, as of right now they're not good enough.

Yeah, I don't get the centre thing at all. Monahan and Backlund are a great 1-2 punch and Bennett still has potential to at least be a second line centre. Not to mention Stajan is one of the best 4th liner centres in the league, Bouma can play centre if needed, and Jankowski is in the system. My list of the Flames needs:

-1st line RW
-#4 D
-Goalie
-3rd line centre

Backlund is on pace for 55 points
Monahan for 47
Bennet just over 30.

Obviously Bennett and Monahan are off their potential but it's hard to say we need another center, even if the ones we have need developing

It's a pretty clear typo... they mean second pairing defenceman.

Good point, I think this quote clears it up:

Quote:
The best-case scenario would be to acquire a second-pairing player who could take some of the workload off Dennis Wideman’s plate.

Not clear at all. He said second line Center, not second pairing Center.

Yeah but then the whole description talks about how scoring isn't a problem but they need help on the blue line. Pretty sure they meant second pairing d-man.

Good enough for what? They're good enough to be the #2 and #3 centres on a playoff bound team.

I think your expectations for what they should be today are out of whack.

We could use a right winger to play with Bennet and Johnny

TSN's biggest need is better talent to write for their website followed by better web article editors.

I guess it only happens when I reply to a specific post.

I will say Bennett and Monahan are a combined -20. Name another playoff team with 2/3rd line centers with a combined -20.

If this team makes the playoffs, it'll be on the backs of the Backlund line.

My expectations are in whack, never expected Monahan to be good defensively and didn't expect Bennett to be this bad defensively though.

Long story short, some old code crept its way into the site's code causing google to flag it as malware and blacklisting CalgaryPuck.

Photon has fixed the code and requested that Google re-evaluate the site and remove it from the blacklist.

Until Google does that, Firefox and Chrome will still warn anyone visiting the site there is a malware risk.
