If the season ended today, which free agents do you keep?
The Flames have a ton of money coming off the books at the end of the season, in the form of the following free agents:

Kris Versteeg
Dennis Wideman
Deryk Engelland
Brian Elliott
Chad Johnson
RFA
Sam Bennett
Alex Chiasson
Micheal Ferland
Garnet Hathaway
Jyrki Jokipakka
Brett Kulak
Without these guys, the lineup looks like this:

Depending on cost, keep everyone but Wideman and Elliott for the NHL guys.
For the AHL guys, keep Gillies and ditch the rest.

Agreed - he's roughly the same age as Gillies and having a better year down in the AHL. Goalies are unpredictable and he's showing something.

Morrison has never shown he will be an NHL player and Wotherspoon hasn't either imo. Cut them both.

I have almost all these numbers projected myself except I went shorter term on Ferland for less money. I would like to keep the cap hit around 1.5
I'd also only sign 1 of Versteeg or Engelland. IMO with the above numbers we could pursue a better option and younger option with the cap space at d or 2nd line. I assume guys like Kulak may want 1 way deals too
