Stars' plane forced to land because of smoke in cockpit
Quote:
A plane carrying the Dallas Stars hockey team was forced to return to a St. Louis-area airport because of smoke in the cockpit.
The Belleville News-Democrat reports the Boeing 737 took off at 11:52 a.m. from the St. Louis Downtown Airport in Cahokia, Illinois, but turned around within five minutes.

Now that would be funny.
"Sunwing Airlines! Statistics show that we're marginally more professional than 'Air Turkmenistan.'"

lived in the area for 10 years. Had no idea there was an airport near downtown St. Louis. guess it makes sense for teams to charter out of there; looks like it is minutes from Scottrade, instead of Lambert airport which is 30-40 minutes from the arena.

Flying is the safest way to travel, no doubt. However after flying on several hundred flights in my life, I'm still a little on edge. The sheer thought of going down in a plane is a terrible way to go. If you're at cruising altitude 10km above the ground, imagine the pilot losing control and the sheer fear to come as they try to get control. It makes sitting on the salt and pepper shaker a cake walk that lasts for minutes and minutes.
