Iginla's last game at the Saddledome?

Hinting that he's hanging up the skates at the end of this season.
Hopefully he gets a round of applause.

If he could win a cup this year with some team (besides us), which team do you guys think would actually be a reasonable fit?

Maybe he'll get traded to a team Calgary meets in the playoffs.

Hawks were allegedly in the conversation for Iginla, but to me they don't have "Cup" written about them this year - possibly Western champs, but I think the top Eastern teams are just too good. Plus, the travel will probably be easier on him in the East.
Montreal will also be in the conversation, I think. They've been without Galchenyuk for a while (just started skating recently again but not with the team) and apparently Pacioretty is down now too. That's two of their top scoring forwards down. If Pacioretty is out for some time, they need help on the frontline and quickly.

Iggy has 9 points this year, do t think they'll be knocking the door down for his services. He looks tired, disinterested and is losing puck battles in the games ive watched him play this year.

But if he does get traded to a team the Flames won't host after the deadline (ie. Columbus, Rangers, Blackhawks, etc), and the Flames don't end up playing that team in the playoffs and then Iggy retires after the season....then tomorrow will be his last game at the Dome, all of which is certainly possible.
Unless of course you're on the #bringhomeJarome wagon, in which case there'd be lots more of Iggy at the Dome

I hope Iggy comes back for at least more season. I would love to have him here in Calgary but I know that is rare.
I would love to see Iginla climb the goal scored ladder to further move him up the chain and give him one last chance at a potential cup.
All the best regardless

Iggy made a mistake. I have no idea why he signed for the Avs other than for the money and term, it makes for family stability and that makes sense.
But has he been worth the outlay? Have the Avs been worth it?
That contract was a mistake on behalf of both parties....but at least Iggy got paid.
It sounds cynical but that matters a lot in pro sports. You dont want to be one of the ones that goes broke after the game. Gotta take what you can get while you can get it and Iggy has done well for himself.
I think he took two stabs as being a mercenary for the cup and they didnt pay off, so he took a more pragmatic approach.
Take the cash while the outstretched hand is still offering it.

Uhhh I'm not sure but a 52 win season before he signed might have had something to do with it

I don't quite agree with ensuring his salary was of the utmost importance. I have no idea what term was on the table, but the Islanders offered him a bigger contract.
He just moved his family twice in short order, and Boston could not afford him. I think the Avs at the time had a great season, he was familiar with management and the coach, and his two stabs at winning on two different teams didn't pan out.
If I was in his shoes, I think the Avs were one of the better teams out there to try and be a part of if a championship is something he wanted, especially during a 3 year contract.
Well, at least without the benefit of hindsight.
I really believe he just pulled a 'Hossa' so to speak. Hossa chased the cup for two years with two different teams (guessing better, ending up at the finals in consecutive years on the losing team - hence the 'Hossa Jinx' after he signed with Chicago), and then decided to sign with the best up-and-coming team.
It was very pragmatic, but I don't think money was the principal driver. I think if that was the case, the Islanders would have been the team he joined. Maybe he wouldn't pull a Selanne and sign for much lower than market value (and I believe that was a lesson for a lot of players when that happened), but money was probably not the principal driver in signing with the Avs.
Heck, I really believed that the Avs were on their way for some success. Then they made a series of blunders, and now they are once again taking the torch from the Oilers.

What's worse, they are breaking Rule 1 of taking the torch:
Don't grab it by the lighted end.

I agree with some of the other comments here in the sense that nobody expected things to go this badly.
When Iginla signed there the Avs were coming off a massive season, had ton's of quality young talent, a Vezina winning goaltender and a Jack Adams winning coach. The fact that Sakic and Roy were the top guy's running the show, were offering a 3 year contract which provided a strong salary & family stability meant something as well.
Looking at Iginla's PRODUCTION during years 1 and 2, his contract was fair given his pedigree in the NHL. Like it or not, 25 goal scorers get paid in this league regardless of age.
We can argue all we want wither going to Denver was the best thing for Iginla and the Avs but nobody really thought this team would be an unmitigated disaster like they are now. Iginla was also talked into signing there by old buddy Tanguay who was having some decent success himself in Denver.
I hope he has a chance to finish off strong somewhere and plays again next year. That shot is still top quality although the speed isn't good.
Good luck Iggy!

Yup.
To Iggy it may have looked like 3 years with a contending team on the upswing.

If he gets traded by deadline then yeah it quite possibly could be his last game in Calgary. Regardless of how he is playing I would take him back in a heartbeat and allow him to retire a Flame if he chooses to call it quits at years end. Maybe he gets dealt to MTL or NYR and ends up winning the Cup?

Listened to a bit of talk on the FAN about Iggy and how this could be his last game. They talked about thebKings as a potential fit due to the Sutter connection and how well Lecavilier played for them last year despite being old and slow.
I had a meeting at 7 this morning so could not keep listening but surprised they didn't at least toy with the notion of Iginla finishing his career with Calgary. At this point I would say the Flames are at worst on par with the Kings if not a better team

For me, Iggy's last game at the Dome was March 24, 2013. He had the game winning goal against the Blues. Most people in attendance knew that it could very well be Iggy's last goal and appearance in a Flames uniform. I made sure to attend that game thinking exactly that. Special moment in Flames history.
