Default Ty Rattie on Waivers; claimed by Carolina

https://twitter.com/SportsnetSpec/st...67678910820353

I didn't see a post on this, sorry if I missed it in part of a larger post. Ty Rattie (Sven's old line mate in Portland) has been placed on waivers by St Louis.

Would you want to see the Flames pick him up?

EDIT: Should have checked the trade rumours thread, sorry, mods can delete.
I dunno, worth discussing on it's own I think... and the answer is yes they should.

1: Shoots right (organizational depth is weak on RS players in general)
2: Has had some success at all levels below the NHL
3: Dirt Cheap
4: Not on a long term deal
5: Plenty of reserve list slots available

Worst thing that happens is we either put him back on waivers and lose him to someone else or Stockton get's some more depth. I see virtually no downside to putting a claim in on him.

You forgot we can trade him to Vancouver at the deadline for a 2nd round pick so they can reunite him with Sven! (Benning will miss the waiver wire process deadline and miss out tomorrow)

Pick him up, play him with Johnny a few games to put up some points, trade to Benning for their 1st this year. Get er done Brad!

I'd say he's worth taking a flier on, but only really as a one for one "trade" with Chaisson. Worth the risk, but one of those two would likely have to be gone within a few weeks, as I'd rather not remove Hathaway from the lineup.

Arizona will claim him to add to their collection of misfit toys.

Wasnt there a rule that if you claimed someone on waivers then you automatically go to the back of the waiver wire priority list regardless of standings?

Thanks to the new CBA, not anymore. Unless I'm remembering it backwards.

Gawd that kid had so much potential. Surprised he's on the waiver wire, but it just go to show no one's development is linear. A bright young star can fizzle while a late rounder turns into a star.

Having said that, sometimes a fresh start can fire a guy up. I'd take a chance on him. Low risk, potential reward.

They need to start selling off their veterans soon so they have contract space for all these waiver claims

Not since at least 2005, if not before that. Claiming a player does not reset priority in any way.

I don't know. I've heard there are some character issues as well but I couldn't confirm those.

I'd like to see the Flames take a flier on Rattie.

He's no Reid Boucher though /s

Here is the current waiver priority:

https://www.sportingcharts.com/nhl/s...per-game/2016/

There are ten teams in front of the Flames. They're probably not going to get a chance to claim him. I'd be surprised if he makes it past the Devils.

So he was outplayed by Yakupov? Not sure I want that on the team. Let the Yotes claim him.
