For certain, Burmistrov will be picked up.
However, I'd like to see us go after Reid Boucher.

^ There is no way Boucher takes a spot from any of our left wingers.

Flames could have had Boucher when Nash claimed him in early Dec. off waivers from NJ.

He's been available for trade forever so while I wouldn't be surprised if a team takes a flyer I also wouldn't be surprised if he clears.

Another waiver wire, another rush to fit a player into the line-up

When are the Jets going to fire Maurice? That team has a lot of talent but their team game is trash. That's on the coach.

Pass & pass. Nothing decent here.
Also can't believe Halak is now in the AHL. Didn't think anyone would pick him up but I thought he'd stay with the Isles after passing through waivers.

I would be surprised if he did. He's been available for about 2 years now, and no takers. I think teams would prefer to send a contract back to the Jets in a trade for Burmistrov, versus claiming him on waivers.

My bold prediction is that he clears. Very rare to see a claim, and I am not sure why any team would bother with him.

?? He'd be easy to obtain and wouldn't be an upgrade on anyone in his position. This is a classis 'grass is greener because I've heard the name and he's on waivers' example.

Why? Reid Boucher is an upgrade on nobody. Who's he going to replace? F. Hamilton as the extra forward?
And it is far from a certainty that Burmistrov will be picked up.

Maybe a KHL team will make a claim.

Not Maurice's fault that he doesnt have a goalie. Need to fire the GM, completely inept and over his head. Best move he's made was drafting Laine and he fluked into that by winning the lottery. Right up there with Jay Feaster in gm ability

Plenty of teams don't have elite or top goaltenders and while maybe none of them win cups a lot of them can win in spite of their goaltenders as you can take a look at Dallas for instance last season. The Kings have kept their head above water this season despite staring backup goaltenders. The Blues this season have the worst team save percentage in the league. Sure they haven't received top goaltending but sooner or later a coach has to get his team playing better defense to account for that and the Jets have never been a good defensive team under Maurice.
Take a look at Maurice's stops in the NHL. The Jets are getting exactly what they have ordered with Maurice as they have gotten his best. He's actually having his best winning percentage of his career with the Jets which is telling of just how mediocre a head coach he has been.

The Flames don't have enough injuries to justify a claim. I could say Burmi would replace Bouma, but Burmi is a top 6 player more than anything. He's not going to replace Gaudreau or Tkachuk. Not Versteeg either.

All true, but the GM has been the least active manager in the league since taking the helm. All while his team has been one of the least successful ones. People can criticize alot of GMs (ie Feaster), but at least those guys tried to do something when their club didn't perform, whereas Chevy hasn't even showed the slightest interest in bettering his club.

2 questions. If he's a top 6 type player why is he on waivers? And why if he's been available for a while there have been no takers.

I didn't mean to suggest he's a top six player. He's not a top six player, but if he were to turn it around, he possesses top 6 attributes, not bottom six ones. You either put him in the top 6 and he's successful, or he's on waivers, because if he's not putting up points, he's not doing much else.
