That's $11,280/game. Or are there a buttload of bonuses, escrow, etc.. details that I am leaving out?

Pretty minor, but I guess they need to send a message.

I did a simple google and its listed as $3.975 over 3 years plus bonuses.
But what ever..
I think it's pretty heavy handed by the league none the less.

Looks like he's trying to break free from the official ... I guess they have a zero tolerance rule ... didn't really look that bad IMO ....

Salary is paid out on a per day basis for a 180 day season.
If a player is not classified as a repeat offender, he is only forfeiting salary on a gameday basis which is 3 days.
DeAngelo's base salary is only $832,500 without any bonuses.

The league has to enforce a zero tolerance policy on this kind of thing. If they start allowing even minor things like this to go unaddressed it will slowly escalate.

Also important to note that DeAngelo has been suspended in the OHL (multiple times IIRC) for saying racist/homophobic things to other players.
He may have said something to the official too.

I'd be careful if I were him, it would sure suck to be victimized by poor officiating for a whole season

Surprised some think this is minor. That's totally unacceptable behavior. Think 3 games is a little light.
While I hate when linesmen grab players like that, it's their job and you aren't playing against the refs so don't be physical in any way with them.

You guys don't get it, do you?
This isn't about picking on a young kid or sending a message to single him out. This is about sending a message to all players that this kind of abuse of officials cannot be tolerated. Why? Because if they let that go, other players will try to push the line and get away with similar ####.

Yep, if we let this stuff go now we could one day see a player crosscheck an official in the back after a missed call. That would be ugly, so we need nip this stuff in the bud whenever we see it.
