Default Beer Advent Calendar 2016

Did anyone buy one of these for this year? This is my first go around. I'm wondering if it will be worth my $150.

I have one this year, and had one two years ago. Can't wait to try today's beer when I get home.

The one I had in 2014 was overall very nice, other than the sour beers which isn't my thing. Fortunately, I don't think there are any sour beers this year.

I've had the Steigl one a few times and its great, especially as I share them with my wife and she loves the various Radlers. And you get a very decent flashlight which is handy when walking your dog in the winter.

I've had the 'Craft Beer' Calendar once and I got another one this year as a gift. I dont like this one nearly as much as some of the various beers are just straight up revolting.

And one day, one day I will spring for the Scotch one. That will be a great day.

They need to make a Red Wine Advent Calendar. I'd sign up for that.

In fact, screw them and their advent calendars! I'm going to make my own advent calendar with hookers, and blackjack! And Red Wine! In fact, forget the hookers and the blackjack!

Yep, picked up the craft import one yesterday. Took out the first two and put in fridge. Day one is an Italian pale ale and day two is a German IPA... that doesn't require spoiler tag I hope? Not sure if the beers are put in the same order from one box to the next or do they just randomly put them in?

A few buddies will chip in on an advent calendar and then during boxing week we will crack it open and have a beer tasting. Yes, if you look at the cost per bottle it doesn't always make financial sense. But there are a few beers and even styles I had never seen, and now really enjoy. And yes, a few get a sip and then down the drain.

Easy solution is to buy 2 and stack them!

I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure you wont find a good majority of the beers in the craft import one anywhere around these parts. What I have heard from others and seen from checking out a few bottles on the one I have anyway. Would have been upset with a beer advent calendar that was all the stuff you can easily buy, and for cheaper, at any liquor store.

Get a friend to buy 24 beers and wrap them. You end up paying a huge markup just for the calendar form.. there are so many well stocked liquor stores it should be no problem these days.

I got a scotch advent calendar for my birthday and got the first mini-bottle today. I'm not sure if I should be finishing each bottle each day - they are small but add up

Maybe most people are just buying 6 or 12 packs, but the price difference is not as drastic as people are suggesting. Individual craft import bottles are easily $4+. And the better selection in most liquor stores, as far as individual bottles, is definitely on the 650ml bottles- which will be $7-10 for domestic and $10+ on imports. $135 on 24 bottles of all different styles (and imports), plus the fancy packaging, is not bad at all. And once again, the craft import calendar looks to be a bunch of stuff I have never seen in Calgary. I have been buying individual bottles for variety for a while now, and it definitely is not cheap. Always shocking to go to a super 1 or walmart in the States and see how cheap individual bottles are- and not the macro stuff either.

Well mine was around that price but it's all imports and all the weekend beers are 750ml. They are definitely charging for the package. Especially if it's not an import calendar.

Plus if you get a friend to do it they won't pick styles of beer you don't like. Win-win anyway, good beer!

We got the scotch one this year. It was ridiculously expensive; not actually sure how it could be worth it. But I've been contemplating it for the past two years so I finally just took the plunge. Day 1 - meh.

My wife makes me one every year, goes to the liquor store and picks out 25 random beers, pretty awesome!

I will volunteer to relieve you of any excess scotch you may have.
