He's 34, so young. Passed away in Denver, so he must have not been playing hockey this year?

RIP. Always thought he'd be a star after scoring 30+ goals and 50 points in 60 games

Passed away in a suburb of Denver. No official word yet on the cause yet. Way too young.

Wow, thought he was a good player after his big years, but regardless, very sad.

Wow. Sad news indeed, there was a time where I hoped the Flames would go after this guy, finished with exactly 100 goals and had over 350 games played. Not a bad career at all; rest in peace good sir.

Damn, that is sad. Too young. Condolences to his family and friends.

I think he was teammates with Elliott briefly in Ottawa.

Hearing confirmed reports from the Denver media that his death was accidental. Hearing unconfirmed reports that it was drug related.

Condolences to his family and friends. 34 is way too young.

If it's a confirmed report, then post a link. I highly doubt you're an NHL insider with "sources".

Reading news reports and hearing commentary from my local media in Colorado and I never said sources or I was an NHL insider.

Really hope your comments were in no way directed at me.

Btw, some of the television commentary that is local for me in Colorado are NHL insiders.

Drug overdose. My guess would be opiates. That's really sad.

Opiates are the absolute worst.

Wow. SO tragic. Awesome player and was very popular amongst his peers on the team and in the league I've heard.

This is very sad news. I was a huge fan of his after the '04 lockout. I loved the way he played and he had such a wicked shot.

Condolences to the family
