Flames Kylington named to Sweden's WJC camp roster

As reported by Expressen:

Although the coach is saying the Expressen roster isn't 100% correct

Good news. Hopefully he dominates the tournament.

Looks like another fairly strong Sweden team.

do teams ever not release AHL players to play at the WJC?

I assume that's not the case, but not sure, don't think it's all that common an occurence.

Actually in Sweden's case, they can't.

In Sweden's transfer agreement with the NHL, any prospect that is not playing with the NHL (i.e. playing in the AHL or ECHL) must be offered to the Swedish national team for the WJC if the Swedes want him.

Last year Toronto did not want to give up William Nylander to the tournament but had no choice. The only loophole to this is to call up the player to the NHL and keep him there until the WJC rosters are finalized.

Not sure if this is written into any of the transfer agreements of any other country.

I'd love to see Kylington play in that tourney. We aren't going to be loaded with kids playing in the WJC so it'd be nice to have someone to cheer on. I suppose Fox and Parsons will make the American team but I'm not so sure Dube makes team Canada.
