Ok. First of all, I am no goody goody prude dude. Far from it.

I see more and more evidence everyday of our society going to shinguard. As my job takes me all over the city every day, I see countless examples of the lack of respect for ourselves. Everything from offensive bumper/window stickers, t-shirts, to rediculous business names. Doggy Style is the name of some dog parlor in town. Granted, it's imaginative, and even a little humorous. But c'mon, they coulda done better. Another one off the top of my head is some garbage pickup outfit advertising if you need a good dump to give them a call. Amusing, but whatever, it sucks. The latest one though really passing me off is the fata store in Chinook. Ok, its sposed to be an acronym for french connection UK some damn thing, but that part is in very small letters after you read the fata. Lets face it. The first thing you read is FATA. NO? Doesnt this offend you? Like I say, I'm no prude.....but man I got limits. I mean.....I swear, I listen to loud music, I drive fast (when it's safe), I've done my share of drinking/drugs, heck, I even make lotsa noise at hockey and football games. But you know what? I respect what you may think of that, and I definately pick and choose whom I swear around. I speed out in the middle of nowhere, and wouldnt think of drinking around someone not comfortable with that. I dunno, maybe thats jsut the way things are evolving, and its not a big deal to people any more. Maybe I'm starting to get old and behind the times. Maybe I'm outta touch. I am though interested in what you think of this.

edit : see,.....even CP disguises the store name !! it's F*C*U*K for those that dont know

I tend to agree with you, simply based on the fact that young girls are walking around with fata emblazoned on their clothes.

Even though it is not FATA, it is close enough to make people offended.

Wow an acronym close to the word fata? That's so outrageous! Way to stick it to the establishment!

I just think its juvenile. "Ooh, I have a dirty word on my shirt, but it's spelled incorrectly!" Good marketing scheme, though. That stuff is everywhere.

Half the advertising done just by the name alone. As the owner of a store, franchise, that is what you want. If you can get your brand out there, and people talking about it, with spending minimal amount on advertising, I think you have done a wonderful job.

If you ever do need a good dump, you most likely will remember that garbage disposal place. What's wrong with doggy style? Wonderful name. And it actually fits the shop perfectly. Just becuase humans came up with a different meaning for it, you shouldn't hold it against the shop owner for using a perfectly good name for their store.

Whether or not you agree with the naming conventions of some stores, you have to admit, that no matter what, you will always remember them.

There's a liquor store by McMahon called Liquor Box. They give out T-shirts that say something like "I went down to Liquor Box & all I got was this T-shirt".

IMO, quite cheesy. But I think I'm in the minority.

there's been a resturnt in Brad d'Or, Nova Scotia that's been around for as long as I can remember.

best fried chicken I've ever had, during after the 2002 Halifax-Cape Breton QMJHL Playoff Series the majors of both cities made a bet that the loser would have to work at a local mom and pop fast food resturant. I had Halifax Mayor Peter Kelly serve me my chicken there, and gave him a hard time for it

He He He, one of my friends did a year of school in Halifax and she showed me a picture of that place. I thought it was awesome.

I don't get too worked up over seeing a shirt that says f.c.u.k.

Not a huge deal to me, if people actually want to wear that stuff, fine by me. I am not going to get offended by a misspelled curse word.

I just bought F.C.U.K. cologne, cause it smells good, not cause of the name.

I remember some from my time in Red Deer...

Beaver Mulching
Liquor Box
Liquor Beaver

There used to be a bad one up in Country Hills... in that area, some chinese food place, I remember laughing my head off, but I can't remember what it was called... Just on the other side of Country Hills Blvd from 14th.

How about J Damer Windows & Doors on 10th Ave SW? Kind of an unfortunate name after what Jeffrey Dahmer did.

If some dipshinguard wants to spend 35 bucks on some shirt that almost everyone else is wearing than go right ahead. I'd rather spend the money that I would on two of those and get at least a nice quality shirt. Kids who wear diesel and fata because everyone else does makes me want to punch them in the neck.

I want to open a liquor store, called "liquor *$#@!" or "*$#@! liquors". Mabe have a cats paw at the end.

I guess I might fall under that "tasteless" catagory.

Edit: I guess the other word for a cat is blocked from the site, but you get my point.

Another Viet Namese restaurant, "Pho Bich Ngr" or something like that, I can't remember if I saw that in Calgary or on the net.
