Default Stamkos Out Indefinitely With Knee Injury

The Tampa Bay Lightning announced Wednesday star centre Steven Stamkos is out indefinitely with a lateral meniscus tear in his right knee.

#TBLightning captain Steven Stamkos is out indefinitely with a lateral meniscus tear, per GM Steve Yzerman
It's the same leg he hurt a couple years ago. This is a big blow for Tampa, Stamkos was finally starting to get back to his play pre-injury

Almost as big of a blow as us losing Johnny. At least Tampa has other players who are capable of stepping up.

calm down

Gaudreau outscored Stamkos last season significantly
Stamkos isn't even leading his team right now in scoring
Gaudreau has teammates half as good as Stamkos
Stamkos could be out for as little as 2 weeks

ffs.

Gaudreau is more important to the Flames offense than Stamkkos is to Tamba Bay's, without question.

getting surgery:

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
Stamkos's procedure, which can have 4 to 6 month rehab, will be performed by knee specialist Dr. Robert LaPrade. Precise recovery time TBD.

In any case, absent official word from TB, speculative fear is Stamkos injury could be measured in month(s) as opposed to weeks. Stamkos could miss 4-6 months with knee injury

Bob McKenzie ✔ @TSNBobMcKenzie
While TB lists Stamkos as out indefinitely, it's believed best-case recovery timeline for this procedure is four months, possibly longer.

God needs to improve his design of knees and shoulders IMO.

He will be fine.

Spent most of the last two seasons not playing with Stamkos and still put up over 60 points in each.
