Let the home team wear whatever colour they prefer, and if the away teams main colour doesn't clash then let them as well, like in soccer. When Manchester United plays Chelsea it's red vs blue, why not do the same in hockey?

Do what they do in the WHL. First half of the season whites at home, second half and playoffs darks. Exceptions made for third jerseys.
