Flames Flames recall Linden Vey

as per AHL transaction page.

http://theahl.com/transactions

EDIT: not sure about Wotherspoon. They say he both got recalled and assigned, that doesn't make sense.

I don't really have a problem with it, he's played well for the Heat. Let Klimchuk, Mangiapane and Jankowski build on their early season success, more AHL seasoning won't hurt them. They could have chosen Hathaway instead, but Vey can play in the bottom six too.

The Wotherspoon recall would be a bigger head scratcher IMO. Really not a fan of carrying 8 defensemen.

I would have called up Poirier personally, he's been beastly on the wing.

Seeing as how Bouma is the questionable one with his shoulder, they're not likely to recall someone like Janko, Klimchuk, or Poirier just to stuff them onto the 4th line. Would you rather that happen, or keep those guys playing huge minutes and gaining confidence in the AHL?

He's been great so far for Stockton.

9 points in 8 games.

not following Stockton? Vey has been good. It also makes to call up a veteran guy and not impact the day to day for some youngsters who are really just getting the ball rolling.

As an example - there's no reason to disrupt what Klimchuk has going on right now. He's finally figuring out the AHL game, let him get on a roll and establish himself a that level.

Because he's an AHL'er. Another plug.

Based on the roles, I'm fine with both call-ups

Jankoski and Klimchuk aren't in any hurry to make the team. They're developing well at the moment

Makes sense. The kids are doing well in Stockton, let them simmer a bit more and keep gaining confidence. If they need someone for the 4th line or the press box Vey is a good choice.

Yeah! Doesn't Treliving know we need help on the right side of the first line?! He should've recalled an NHL all-star from the AHL instead.

It might seem like it sometimes, but you actually don't have to complain about everything.

Vey is a good call. Adds some experience and lets the AHL guys keep their focus. He's been good.

This early in the season guys like Klimchuk and Poirier need minutes right now. Not to sit the in press box and maybe get in a game for 7 minutes. Vey's been doing well enough too, I think he can cover Bouma workload

Anyone who is following Stockton knows Vey was lights out in the last 4 games.

8 pts in 4 games and named one of the 3 stars in 3 of those games.

He is the best forward with a NHL contract down in Stockton that shoots right ATM.

Vey is a ####ty hockey player. I would rather see what they have in somebody else. I would of went with Klimchuk or Mangiapane.

you would rather see klimchuck or mangiapane get 11 minutes on the fourth line with Stajan? That makes no sense. If they were to recall those guys its because Shinkaruk gets sent back down, not for fourth line minutes. Let them light it up with 1 and 2 line minutes in the AHL, theyre in their first and second years pro and can use the extra time
