Default Tin Star (Tim Roth, Christina Hendricks) filming in Calgary

So I bumped into Christina Hendricks in my building. I guess she is in town filming this TV show.

What's interesting is that Alberta seems to be actually playing Alberta. Tim Roth is wearing a police uniform that actually says Alberta on the shoulder patch.

Has anybody heard of this show and what's behind it?

They've been filiming Tin Star in High River this past summer and fall. Mostly the downtown area where they set up fake store fronts that foten confuse residents.

Have run into Christina Hendricks a few times but sadly he turned down my offers of dinner.

[QUOTEProduction crews from Kudos Film and Television have arrived in the community and have started filming the new “Tin Star” series, which was created by acclaimed British director Rowan Joffe.

The show stars Tim Roth, known for roles in Quentin Tarantino films 'The Hateful Eight,' 'Reservoir Dogs,' and 'Pulp Fiction,' as well as Christina Hendricks who starred in 'Mad Men' and 'Drive'.

This production has been described as “an epic tale of deception, betrayal, murder and revenge set against the backdrop of a remote and beautiful Canadian mountain town,” according to a release.

Jason Nolan, location manager, discussed the importance of High River as a location.

“We love to shop local,” he is quoted as saying in the release. “We are very excited to show High River off to the world and look forward to filming in town this year.”

Much of the show will be filmed inside the old Vespucci's building on Third Avenue SW, as this is the show's main filming location for the first season of this series.

This week, crews will be located on the gravel lot between 128 and 130 Fourth Ave SW, the lot south of the High River United Church and off 420 Centre Street N at the former River Roadhouse lot.

According to a town press release, part of the set dressing will include temporary aesthetic changes to business storefronts in the downtown core. They will be removed once filming is complete.

Already, the exterior of the Museum of the Highwood has been transformed into the Little Big Bear Police station and the sign above John Barlow's MP office is for a mountain sports equipment store.

Below is a list of dates and times that crews will be filming throughout the next week :

June 15:
Filming will begin on June 15 inside the main film set at 111 Third Ave SW. In the afternoon, an additional scene will be filmed outside on Fourth Avenue SW. This will require a road closure of Fourth Avenue with intermittent traffic control on First Street SW from Fourth Avenue to Sixth Avenue. There will also be parking restrictions on both sides of 1 Street S.W. between 4 and 6 Avenue. Filming will be complete by 9 p.m.

June 16:
Filming will begin at 7 a.m. inside St. Benedict Anglican Church. There will be parking restrictions on Third Street SW from Macleod Trail to Seventh Avenue and on Seventh Avenue SW from Third Street to Second Street SW. At approximately 2 p.m. crews will move across town to film additional scenes in a private residence for the remainder of the day.

June 17:
Filming will begin at 7 a.m. on Fourth Avenue SW inside and in front of Evelyn’s Memory Lane Cafe. Fourth Avenue SW will be closed from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Crews will also have a large truck blocking the east corner of Fourth Avenue and First Street S.W. for this scene until 1 p.m. Crews will perform traffic control during this time. A drone may also be used for parts of the scene as required.

June 20:
Filming will begin at 6 a.m. at Spitzee Elementary School. Filming will be complete by 10 a.m. Crews will also be filming at St. Benedict Anglican Church from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m. and will need to close Third Street SW between Macleod Trail and Seventh Avenue for outdoor scenes on the street and parking lot.

June 21:
The entire day of filming will take place at École Secondaire Highwood High School. Once these scenes are complete, crews will remove their vehicles until the next filming dates.[/QUOTE]

With all of the new businesses opening in High River there are some in the downtown core that are not real, and are all part of a set for the television series Tin Star.

Economic Development Manager Jodi Dawson says the production is bringing jobs and money to town with it.

"Thirty-two thousand dollars paid out directly to businesses who are impacted on film days. They've paid ninety-four thousand dollars to background performers from the area, and eight hundred thousand dollars building the set in the old Vespucci building, and most of that was sourced locally."

Crews expect about half of their time will be spent filming in High River and the other half around the Foothills and should be done in November.

"I have had a couple calls asking what The Great Devide Pizza is like and what's that noodle place like. They're not real, they're part of the set! It's awesome because it has uplifted the look of those streets. They have been nothing but a solid and invested community partner."

Dawson says they've been the perfect guests and have invested a lot of money in town too.

"They have been renting the Memorial Centre to eat their food out of, even though they don't have to do that. They made arrangements to park their vehicles out in Wallaceville, to minimize the impact to our downtown. They invested in all of the fake store fronts in the empty buildings along 3rd and 4th Avenues.

The series Tin Star is described as a story of betrayal, deception and murder in a remote Canadian mountain town.

I ran into Tim Roth at the airport early morning last Thursday. He's a very short man. Around 5'5" I reckon.

Tim Star should be wrapping up around months end in High River and at the new Film Centre Studio.

Dead Again in Tombstone is filming just west of town until Nov.10 as well. I was able to run into Danny Trejo. Nicest guy ever but intimidating as all hell haha.

For the Fargo fans season 3 has started pre-production/construction and should start filming around early January until May around town and they will also have all 3 sets at the studio going as well.

I don't think people realize how much the new studio has helped the Alberta film business, its a phenomenal place. Expansion talks are already in the works to double its size.

Well, my days of not taking you seriously are certainly coming to a middle.

I humbly request before/after shots, so as to better understand the underlying nature of this discussion.

After a quick, five-second, scan of the first page of a Google image search, I've settled on these two as my faves from the ones that showed up:

(I'm not sure which of the above-mentioned categories they belong to, though.)
