Flames HNIC: Coyotes and Penguins kicking tires on D. Hamilton

per Kypreos on HNIC

He was also adamant that Calgary is not shopping D. Hamilton.

He said many teams are inquiring but the two teams that he is hearing are Arizona and Pittsburgh.

In his opinion Calgary won't trade him until the "stock is high"

Arizona has some pieces I'd be interested in, but I think Dougie stays put.

Teams kicking tires on a 6'5 top 4, cost controlled, Young D with high upside and Calgary is not shopping him. Not surprising.

Default HNIC: Coyotes and Penguins kicking tires on D. Hamilton

Let's remember, Dougie Hamilton is currently leading our defence in points and is the second youngest out of them. He also leads his draft class in points for D. Defence take long to develop and I wouldn't write him off for at least a few years, unless something drastic happens. The team hasn't been good, and even Dougie hasn't looked good at times, but I've seen some progression in his game, by showing a more physical side to his game. It'll take some time to bring everything he has.

Yup. I hope the team keeps him. He's far from the problem and he still (hopefully) has a ways to go development wise.

We've been hearing his name in the rumor mill so often since the start of his tenure with the Flames. Something has to be up. I refuse to believe that Treliving is not at least listening to offers at this point. Hamilton has been 5th in ice time among all defensemen on the team for the last 2 seasons now while being paid the second most. I think it's obvious that both Hartley and Gulutzen are too big of fans. So if that's the case, then he should be traded or his trade value will just continue to tank.

Most over rated d in the NHL. Trade him and use that cap space for a Top line RW'er to play with Johnny

If you are serious (accurate) about your first comment, you can't be serious ( accurate) about the return you are suggesting.

Fortunately, for the Flames, you are way off on your first premise.
