[GDT] Flames at Canucks 8pm Mountain - The day the flames actually played some D
I'm driving up through the storm to see our heroes. Really hoping I'm not going to regret it. Here's what I want to see:
- Wideman out, Kulak in
- 0 breakaways allowed
- Defense
- Johnny with 2 or more points
- Bennett on the scoresheet
- Ferland hitting for once
- A frickin win

A frickin win is good enough for me at this point, I don't care how we get it.

No more strong side pinching to the hashmarks please. Gio, Wideman, Chiasson, Engelland are too slow to compensate if the pinch doesn't work properly.

I want to see Chiasson slotted in with Johnny/Mony. He's got size, has been using it, has a good shot and isn't afraid to slash and battle in front of the net.

If Wideman and Grossman play over Kulak and Jokipakka, I'm going to start wondering if someone above is forcing lineup decisions, or that our coach can't see what is plainly obvious.
Speed kills. It's 2016. Let's start getting with the program here.

No way Jokipakka sits tonight, he looked steady, made some good decisions. I do want to see Kulak now and Wideman was easily the goat last night. Make the right decision GG!!

If the Flames lose to the Canucks after losing to the Oilers twice in a row, I'm gonna be really sad

Canucks speed won't be the issue. It's an opposite team from the Oilers in many ways. We'll see how our "D" handle controlled zone time.
I just keep reminding myself "It's just a game. It's just a game. You choose to watch and cheer for a team because you enjoy it. You are choosing to watch this."

Canucks will likely have a good power play and the Flames PK was awful last night. I'm sticking with my preseason 0-3 prediction as the Flames lose tonight.

Yeah I'm still happy hockey is back. Just it would be fun to cheer for a winning team for once. My hope for tonight is the Canucks are rusty (this is their first game).

Pretty simple solution tonight.
Flames best players need to be their best players tonight.
Two huge swings and misses on that count thus far.

After watching McDavid skate circles around the d with speed , I worry tonight we'll watch the sedins cycle the puck around this d into submission.

Keeping expectations modest: - 4 or fewer goals against, 0 of them shorthanded
- 2 or fewer breakaways surrendered
- 5 or fewer penalty kill situations
- At least a point in the standings
