Default NHL teams by height, weight, and age

Flames are tied for 3rd tallest team.
They are the 18th heaviest team and the 20th oldest team.

Nice. As our tall young kids fill out we should end up with a tall, heavy, skilled team with speed!

I like that!

Philadelphia and Chicago are tiny.
Los Angeles is huge.

Vancouver is skinny.
Buffalo, Nashville and Toronto are rotund.

Chicago and LA are polar opposites in height and weight. I think this demonstrates how meaningless it is to obsess so much about height and weight.

Pittsburgh and Tampa, a couple of cup favorites this season are below average on both scales (in the Pens case, almost the lightest team in the league). but someone will say that the only way for the Flames to compete in the Big Bad West is to try to be even biggerer and badderer.

since we're closer to being the fast and light squad than the bruisers, that's going to be the easier philosophy to follow. if we want the hulk squad, that would require another rebuild.

Our two oldest players, Wideman and Engelland come off the books.

The Flames actually have a great age distribution right now. A lot of the "older" players are either goalies or defencemen. The key forwards are all young.

3rd tallest, with Johnny on the team.

Big, young, skilled, it's a process.

these lists don't mean much when a 4th liner or 7th d-man are given the same weight (pun intended) as a first line player or #1 D

I've referenced this source for a few years and it's good to see us getting bigger. Some teams do well despite their small size but that doesn't mean it's not a potential weakness.

They must have done this before Gaudreau was on the roster.

Gaudreau and Versteeg are the only ones under 6 feet tall.

With Engelland, Wideman, Grossmann, and Smid all in the final years of their contracts, and all likely to be replaced by much younger players, the average age should drop quite a bit next season.
