lanny Flames vs Rangers: 8:00 MST, CBC, Fan 960

Well, back in the Saddle(dome) again tonight as the Flames Gang try to head off the (Lone) Rangers at the pass.

from http://calgaryherald.com/sports/hock...w-york-rangers

How They Match Up

Forwards — Rangers

Blueshirts boast eight guys with 10-plus points. Flames have two.

Defence — Rangers

Although they surrendered five goals to struggling Canucks.

Goaltending — Rangers

King Henrik is still one of NHL’s elite netminders.

Power Play — Rangers

This checkmark always goes to Calgary’s opponent.

Penalty Kill — Rangers

Flames have allowed a PP goal in every home game so far.

Intangibles — Rangers

They’re well-rested and have history of road success.

Overall — Rangers

Sorry Flames, this is a clean sweep.

Set-up notes

Flames LW Micheal Ferland was a full participant in Friday’s practice, a good sign after he was crunched in the third period of Thursday’s loss to the Stars … The Rangers are averaging 4.14 goals per game. Heading into Friday’s action, their grand total of 58 markers was 10 more than any other NHL outfit … The Carolina Hurricanes revealed LW Bryan Bickell has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, news that hit close to home for Flames goaltending coach Jordan Sigalet. “Thinking of @bbicks29 and his family today after hearing the news of his MS diagnosis.13 years ago I received the same news. Never give up!” Sigalet wrote on Twitter. Now 35, Sigalet was tending twine at Bowling Green University when he was diagnosed and worked his way to hockey’s highest level, making one appearance between the pipes for the Boston Bruins in 2006 … Rangers D Brady Skjei is riding a six-game point spree, with seven assists over that span. That puts the 22-year-old in elite company. The last rookie blueliner to rack up a six-game point/assist streak for the Rangers was some kid named Brian Leetch in 1989. He’s now enshrined in the Hockey Hall of Fame … Rangers RW Rick Nash celebrated a milestone in Tuesday’s loss to the Canucks in the Big Apple, becoming just the 92nd sharpshooter in NHL history to hit the 400-goal mark. The 32-year-old Nash has scored 11 times in his career against the Flames.

Injuries

Flames: LW Matthew Tkachuk (hand) is day-to-day, while RW Kris Versteeg (groin) and LW Lance Bouma (upper body) are out. Rangers: RW Josh Jooris is skating in no-contact togs as he recovers from a separated shoulder.

Lineups (from www.dailyfaceoff.com)

Flames

Gaudreau-Monahan-Chiasson
Ferland-Backlund-Frolik
Shinkaruk-Bennettt-Brouwer
Stajan-Vey-F Hamilton

Giordano-Brodie
Jokipakka-D Hamilton
Kulak-Engelland

Elliott (unconfirmed)

Rangers

Vesey-Stepan-Nash
Kreider-Zibanejad-Zuccarello
Grabner-Hayes-Miller
Buchnevich-Pirri-Fast

McDonagh-Girardi
Staal-Holden
Skjei-Klein

Lundqvist

...and even though he's unhappy with the Flames' fortunes of late, The Puppet finds joy in playing with his new Power Ranger figure:

Spoiler!

Go Flames

Our goaltending has been better lately.

I say 2-1 Rangers, possibly 3-1 with an empty netter.

How long will we watch until we have to turn the game off today? I say 5-0 after 2 for rangers and then the tv(laptop) goes off.

4-1 Rangers but on the plus side the Flames goal comes on the PP. Moral victories and all that.

Let's hope the team breakfast is unpalatable Corn Flakes. Want to see some nastiness from the home squad.

I feel like this is almost guaranteed win night... for the Flames. This is a team that never manages to pull out front or completely fall out - they always manage to suck you back in. And since a loss would be almost a nail in the coffin, they are due for a win.

I wont even be watching. Going to the CFR tonight. The Bull S### flying around will literally be more exciting than the game.

Lol, gotta love the state of the fanbase these days (and I'm not disagreeing).

LOL

Well, I'm very concerned that if Carolina and Arizona win at home tonight, and we lose, we are last place in the league.

Elliott had 4 good games in late Oct but has allowed 12 goals on 81 shots in the 3 games in Nov. That's not better, in terms of results.

Actually I don't really blame the goalie, more so the team.

Rangers are the highest scoring team - they have 58 goals, the next highest team has 50.

5-2 Rangers.
