Any plumbers on CP? Leaky shower faucet...help!
Hoping to get some advice from any plumbers, if we have one on this forum.
We have a Delta shower faucet in our tub, and it's developed a leak from the spout. I called Delta, and they sent a replacement cartridge for the shower...Google says that the cartridge is the most common cause of a leak.
The cartridge is the right kind, the part number on the new one is exactly the same. I followed the instructions to the letter, and replaced the whole assembly, even the seats and springs at the back.
Turned the water back on, and it still leaks from the spout.
I'm out of ideas. I'm planning to call a plumber to look at it, but in the meantime, can someone offer any insight?

Try and Google your model number and see if anything comes up on YouTube. Maybe you missed something. Might find an answer there

Thanks, but I've done that. I found a video from Delta themselves, and installed it exactly the same way.

How old is the faucet housing? Can you let us know the model number so we can check the video?

Not a plumber, but I've had this happen before with a Delta shower faucet. Turns out the replacement cartridge was crap. Another replacement cartridge fixed it.

I concur this can only be the cartridge causing the leak. Try one from Home Depot or Rona and see if that resolves it. (You can always return if it if it doesn't). Delta low end seems to need replacement every 3-5 years.

Take the old cartridge to Home Depot - they should replace it free and will send the faulty one back...

Thanks guys. I'll try getting a new cartridge and see if that helps.

I'll try, but I don't know if they carry it. A search on their website didn't bring up any results.

Hey Stealth, you may also try Plumbeteria (they have almost everything) and Frontier Plumbing. I know when I had trouble locating a cartridge a couple of years ago my father in law mentioned this place and it was great.
