Who wants to write Game-Day Threads?
The pre-season games are only a couple of weeks away, so I guess it's time to organize some things for the coming year. I suppose I'm the de facto game-day thread guy around here as FBI reminded me in a PM (thanks  ), so I guess it falls to me to organize it. I think I will still do the weekend game write-ups (Fri., Sat., Sun.) but I don't think I'll have the time for any writing on weekdays this season. HalifaxDrunk was my partner last year, but he was a little MIA near the end and I haven't seen him post anything around here in forever, so let's assume that he won't be doing it again.
Are there any volunteers* to help write this year? It's honestly not as hard as you think. You find some pictures, look up the lineups, and do a little background research on the opposition. If you can write decently and have the ability to create smooth transitions between ideas, that's all that is really required. The only thing I would say is that you have to follow the Flames especially closely since everyone on CP will call you out for mistakes written about the team, so this isn't a job for the casual fan or someone that doesn't have time to keep up on the team.
It's honestly quite fun to do it though. Even if you've never written before, if you ever wanted to try and give it a shot, now's the time.
*I know someone who will volunteer immediately, but I hesitate to give them another reason to start a thread.

I'm guessing you're hinting at TheScorpion will your footnote, but its probably something he'd be quite good at based on his season preview posts and the Free Agency thread.
Either way, I don't think its a big deal. The only info I look for in them is roster news.

I for one really appreciated the effort CFF did last year for the GDThreads and think that is one of the best parts of CP. I told him I can maybe chip in once a week if necessary this year but I also have two little ones so time is at a premium.

I wonder if you are in the minority here (about just reading the GDT for roster info) I definitely read it for the insight and witty commentary

Oh probably. I definetly respect the effort and attention to detail. I just personally only looked for lineup news.

That's exactly what I'm trying to do here, but it's a good idea to have it organized otherwise you'll have a bunch of people trying to do it at once, or nobody will do it. Leaving it to chance leads to shoddy, last-second writing, and I feel this community deserves a solid writeup.

While I appreciate the nomination from Enoch Root and the kind words from AC, I don't think it'd be the greatest idea for me to go around starting a ton of threads. I like the idea, and I'd be interested, but I'm trying to post less, not more. I don't think my posting as many as five-six more threads a month would be received well.
But I will think about it.
